Inequality will be obscene for our generation!!

Some points:

- Rent is increasingly taking more out of people's salaries
- Some kids get A LOT of help from parents and therefore won't need to pay rent
- Women with degrees only want to marry men with degrees too
- Property prices in some areas are increasing faster than wages (major cities)
- Education is becoming more expensive - some will start work with varied levels of debt

Second point has been happening for ages, nothing new

Third point isn't entirely true, women want to marry men with good pay, that doesn't necessarily mean they have a degree, although people with degrees are more likely to have good careers

Last point is true, although as long as it isn't an actual debt but more like a graduate tax, it isnt all that tragic

And I assume that alongside that 'higher pay' - which again means nothing, comes higher workload, larger amount of stress, less time to spend with family, higher divorce rates?

i'd agree with that to an extent.
High property prices, too many graduates, NHS would probably start charging soon I can't see it being free in 10 years time. More junior docs will leave as well due to new contracts.

- Depends where you are
- Always been the case and just reduces inhertitance anyway
- Loads more peeps with degrees
- Always been the case
- An inequality leveler between those with and without degrees

Couples with higher combined salaries are less likely to divorce. It is higher pay among wives, not husbands, that is correlated with marital issues.

I didn't know this. Why is this? What % of long term couples exist where the wife earns more?
I think talking about inequality is so lower middle class.

I never have these sorts of conversations at my candlelight suppers.

The Tory starter homes should help out. Though it will probably never get done at this rate.
- Some kids get A LOT of help from parents and therefore won't need to pay rent
Their parents worked hard; good for them being able to help out their kids. Instead of moaning how some families have hard workers and thus have money why don't you work hard so your kids can do well? I don't understand your point-you seem to just be jealous. They already paid income tax on their incomes, there is no jealous tax sadly for those who are jealous.
- Women with degrees only want to marry men with degrees too
Well men with degrees should only marry a women with a degree. Many men do this already-thirty years ago it was very different. Now people marry to those who are on a similar educational level.
- Property prices in some areas are increasing faster than wages (major cities)
Don't like in a city then.
- Education is becoming more expensive - some will start work with varied levels of debt

Since when did the 1% own 50% of the world? I bet you are on about Oxfam. Their methodology is laughable, I don't have the time to laugh at it. A simple google search will do so anyway. Here is just one example of many;

I've grown up poor and I don't give a crap about relative inequality. Hurting the rich doesn't make me richer.

Your points are true though and that's a concern for my nominal wealth but it really depends on whether we see politicians continue to ignore issues like pay growth.

I don't care about the global wealth distribution which is the reason for your figure. Africa has had 50 years to sort itself out and they jumped into bed with the Soviets and kicked out the rich whites, South America fell to socialism. Their fault, not ours.

The statistics vary from source to source, but it's around 20-30% in the US.

As for the whys and wherefores, I don't know - here's a paper:

Interesting but you will find inequality is higher in "Developed countries" than the difference between developed and developing people based in those countries.
