Drama and theatre studies applicants 2016 entry!!

Hello everyone!

My name is Swara. I'm a final year law student in India and I'm hoping to switch to a career in performing arts. I'm 22 years old now and I don't think I will be able to apply for courses that start before 2017. I loved acting in school but haven't done much of it in my five years at law school. Further, our training in English literature in school doesn't even come close to the kind of training students receive in the UK (understandably). I'm also a trained dancer. I'm trained in Baharatanatyam, which is an Indian classical dance form. I would really like to do work that blends both theatre and Bharatanatyam as I find the interplay extremely interesting.
I would really like to come and study acting in the UK as quite simply, I believe that's where the best training is. But I would really appreciate help from anyone here about what I need to work on to get in. I've been to a lot of the websites and I understand I need to prepare pieces for an audition and the specific requirements vary with each school. I've never been for an audition like this before, so I have no idea where to even start.
I'm also unsure of what kind of course I should apply to. As much as a BA in acting sounds extremely exciting, I'm already 22 with one five year degree under my belt and honestly, I'm worried that it's already too late for another bachelor's degree.
If anyone here has any help to offer me, I'd be very very grateful.

I'm in my almost 32 have always had a passion for acting and was pretty good at it from 5-15, then I left school got into banking, had a family and my dreams drifted away. This year I've really been studying acting in my own time again. I've been looking at schools in London. Guildhall stands out for me, theres something drawing me in, not sure what yet. Excited about the open day in Dec though. Do you think I'm too old to do this? I'm not even sure how to go about applying for a course once I find the right one.

any help and opinions would be well received..

If you want to become a professional actor then LAMDA should be your first choice.

Absolutely not too old. There are roles for everyone in acting! From what I understand some schools you apply directly to the school, others are through ucas, just follow the application procedure and you will be fine.

The best Drama schools in the UK are vocational and not academic. So if I were you I would consider only those in the top 10.

Im Thinking of applying for Drama School at LAMDA, RADA, Mountview and Guildhall.
However im soon to be 27 years old and feel maybe im to old to do this? Ive always had a passion for acting but did not build up enough confidence when I was younger.
any thoughts on this topic? Are there any other 'mature' students applying?

Thanks Sam.. Its all a bit daunting applying to schools at my age.. but i'm strong through life experience and if I never try i'll never know..

Has anyone applied to LAMDA yet? If so, can you tell me how far in the future they're booking audition dates for people applying now? Thanks!
