Homosexuality; nature vs nurture

It is to my understanding that homosexuality is (at least predominantly) caused by genetic and epigenetic factors, but I had a debate and I'm confident in my views but I said I would search for something to prove me wrong. So please can people try convince me that socialisation can affect one's sexual orientation, not sexual behaviour, or provide me with evidence otherwise.

Culture is socialisation for example.
Can gay parents of adopted children affect their sexual orientation, for example?

I have not personally carried out a research. However, it would be ridiculous to think that a different education would make you gay. How could we explain that there are so many gay people suffering because their family is homophobic? The same thing is applicable on the opposite example, there are many straight people that have been raised in gay families.

Obviously, people whose parents are gay will be more likely to have an open mind, and therefore accept themselves if they are gay. People who have been born in a religious family, specially those that have always considered that gay means wrong, will probably be reluctant to accept that they are gay.

In conclusion, I think that while your sexuality is determined by nature, the acceptance of it will be affected by external factors as you mentioned.

It's necessary to keep to my word, but yeah, TSR is obsessed with this. :smh:
I believe it's predominantly nature, but I want people to (try) prove to me its other than nature.
I have no issue with it either way.
(Just saying this in case there's any personal reason for your post.)

I need to also make a counterpart thread to transgender, considering both were the topic of debate, but they're both distinctly separate things, so I didn't include it in this thread.
Play Devil's Advocate people!!!!!!
Honestly, no one will be ostracised for expressing their views either (providing it's entirely a debate format, and I would argue the points regardless.)(Saying this considering some of the threads on this in the past, and that this thread might attract the attention of people with different opinions.)

I just need to convince them (or prove myself at least in part wrong.)

Can't you just look at your last thread?

I would prefer thought to be provoked instead of narrow-mindedness and silliness to be erased, so no, I can't just look at my last thread. I said I'll provide evidence, and I want people to challenge these views I have regardless, to see if they can find any (reasonable) flaw or any reasonable proof/reason that socialisation is a factor in determining sexual orientation.

I think their arguments are (extremely) flawed; they think mine are flawed (but I still think mine are vastly superior and they're being short-sighted/narrow-minded.)

That last thread said I was bloody fed up of the stupidity from some (one too many) TSR members.

I just have to keep true to my word.

Edit #1: Also nurture isn't limited to choice. However that thread is.
