Crush on my seminar tutor - advice?

Okay, guys.

I have a rather big crush (infatuation is probably a better word) on my seminar tutor. I'm a first year uni student (i'm 21, so a little older than most first years), and i'd estimate him to be in his early 30s. I suppose the infatuation has started partially out of a desire to connect with someone (i'm struggling to make friends in uni), and he pretty much fits the bill (slightly older man, similar interests in certain areas of our subject, and in my opinion, adorable). Obviously I only know him on a professional level, so he could be completely different in his personal life. I would love to get to know him on a more personal level, but I don't know if this would be possible or appropriate. I don't know if he's in a relationship, if he finds me attractive, or if he's even straight. And even if he was single, most educated uni professionals I suppose are not interested in young and inexperienced students. But i've fallen for him pretty hard. I don't want to push my feelings or make them more known, as I don't want to ruin our professional relationship. I'm so shy, and just starting a small conversation with him would be nice, but I don't have the courage. I'm just pretty confused and conflicted.

Sounds like the beginning of a porno...

But seriously, couldn't you ask him for some help with a set piece of work and sit down with him and then see where the conversation takes you...
Men are mostly unprincipled, dirty old dogs. He will cheat on his wife and kids with a younger woman at a stroke. I wouldn't, when I get older because I wouldn't want to be some older creepy guy getting a younger woman. I want to have dignity and be with the alpha mature women I respect and love by then. I know what will happen here and it's one of those things that makes me misanthropic. I hate the very thought of having a daughter because of this scenario.
Don't sympathise with him here. He will get what he wants, be a dirty old dog with a young student- not suffer for it and hide it from his wife and kids. She will help him do this and then act all cutesy and innocent.

Was in a similar position, but I decided not to go for it since there was a lot of competition from about 15+ other girls vying for his attention at the same time!
It will go away....

This, complete with ther breezy '!' has just made my view of humanity further. There are more disguisting and immoral things in our country, but I always hate hearing about these status hungry young women and the olde guys who should have more class cheating on their wife and kids. Jesus I don't know what I'd think if I found it out about my DAd.
