You are taking one particular thing that a person does, and automatically assuming that they are scum. I don't know that gangs deal in "child pornography", but if they do, I doubt many know this. Even if they knew, it's difficult to care about something that you aren't directly involved in. Much like how people buy stuff from big companies despite them knowing how the products where made. Like how I buy meat despite being negatively affected by seeing an animal die. Like the fact that people target really personal things about people on the internet despite knowing how much it can affect the other person.

Organised, commercial exploitation of children for the production of child pornography is extremely rare in this country, and is almost always done by individuals or groups of paedophiles whose link to each other is their interest in paedophilia, not links to organised crime syndicates.

The organised crime groups that do produce it are often in places like Eastern Europe. The way people procure child pornography is over the internet. They don't go to the local drug gang who sell pot, coke and a bit of heroin and ask for child porn, and there's no obvious connection between the gangs who sell these drugs and organised crime syndicates in Eastern Europe and Asia.

I don't doubt they are involved in other forms of criminality, this merely underscores the madness of our current form of prohibition that places a highly lucrative market into the hands of violent criminals.
