Does this sentence make sense?

"When Manchester United won the the match they rejoiced in victory"

Im not so sure about using the word rejoiced...?

i would change it slightly...

"When Manchester United won the the match they rejoiced in their victory"

There's redundancy in that sentence. You don't need to say they won and had a victory.

Manchester United is a noun in this sentence, so saying "their" and "they" wouldn't be technically correct (although it is said in common English)
