Hopeful Medicine Applicants 2019

Yes, I know this is ages away - but we'll have to apply before we know it! Wondering if anyone else here in Year 10 is thinking of a career in medicine at this point, I'd love to talk to you!

ICT
(+ an additional maths qualification - not sure what it is exactly?)

Yep, GCSEs are really important - but more so with Oxford than Cambridge, I think. Cambridge mainly focus on AS levels...
But having said that, with the new a level reforms, we might not be taking AS levels, so even more pressure on our GCSEs :frown:

It's more annoying for our year because we have a mix of letter and numbers fot our final grades 😕

I'm actually happy about it because English and maths are my favourite and some of my best subjects so I think I could get 9s which could help me in Oxford for example where I think to get an interview they just put number of a* proportion of a* and bmat in a computer and there's a cut off point but having 9s would put me at an advantage (or equal to those people with like 14 a* :tongue:

)

True, but my school is putting a lot of emphasis on English, we have it 8 times a fortnight, so I don't need to worry about it as much
