Are all girls bisexual?

Hey,

So I came across this post this morning; http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/women-are-bisexual-or-gay-but-never-straight-study-says--WkDRFZmCOg and it got me thinking. Me and my now ex-girlfriend started talking about our previous sexual experiences one night after getting drunk on date night. She admitted that she'd had two sexual encounters with another female, this lead to me asking her whether she thought she might be bisexual, which she denied but never did she say she regretted her actions or that it was a mistake or that she was just experimenting. In fact she made it quite clear that she enjoyed them! (It might be worth knowing that both times she had a sexual encounter with another female it was in between bad breakups with a male.)

It doesn't end here, I also noticed that whenever we watched porn together (not regularly but every now and then) she'd tend to choose the pornos that included girl on girl action like threesomes, lesbian, gangbang etc. I actually made a joke out of it once and she just said that she thought I liked watching girl on girl. (Which I do, but I had never told her that.)

What do you think? Could all girls be bi-sexual? Does the article have some grounds? And what do you think about my ex? Could she have been bi?

Well women often prefer lesbian porn purely because it's more sensual, straight porn is far less so. The study found that all women involved in the study, including those who identified as straight, were aroused by other women. But one could argue that sexuality is a combination of romantic and physical attraction.

Ultimately I'd prefer to let people self-identify, rather than let others decide which labels are appropriate for them. I'm bisexual by the way.

I can find lesbian porn quite good to watch, yes. Does that make me bisexual? No. I've never been physically attracted to a girl in real life. Same as I've watched anal but never had any desire to do it.

I thought that the study suggested that women were almost never straight, rather than exclusively bi or lesbian.

The study seems to be assuming that watching gay porn means your gay or lesbians,which isn't true.

However, no. Everyone exists on a scale and precious few will be 100% straight (or 100% lesbian for that matter), but that isn't quite the same as being bisexual (in terms of how it's commonly perceived at any rate). Beyond that, I'd be interested to see how they actually measured the arousal and how they've accounted for any non-sexual reaction to the stimuli - all that article talks about is pupil dilation, which doesn't necessarily denote sexual arousal.

You know what, I think women are more conservative, and bothered what people think. So they are likely to repress any 'bi' instincts. Another thing I've noticed through interaction in a context where you can discuss sexual stuff is that women who describe themselves as bisexual, in practice, have very little interest whatsoever in talking to men, in a sexual or non-sexual context- for instance a platform specifically about flirting and meeting people, they will say they are bi, but the way they only end up wanting to talk to women suggests they have very little, or zero sexual interest in men. It becomes very obvious.

Agree. I have had people saying how straight I seem, but the role of environment is ignored. Why do all so many guys in boarding schools end up in gay relationships or with gay experiences? Not because they are innately, genetically more gay, but because of environment. I feel this has been entirely ignored in the issue of homosexuality, it's only been treated as a definite category, one way or another, because liberals feel comfortable 'not being homophobic' but also not having anyone think they could be remotely gay themselves, and mocking campness etc. What I was coming round to is that even if there are genes for it , there is also environment and epigenetics, where genes switch on and where people adapt and change. Personally, with me, I think my initial instinct and natural, innate ones are heterosexual, but if you have major issues in your head about women, get relegated a certain way or categorized, (beta, or whatever things women do), and also if all of sex is contraceptive when the goal is reproduction, if you have bad treatment and sex with women and have it good with a guy, you can change your habits a bit.

Does this make sense?

Thanks. How would you know though, it's true. 'Bisexual' women are never interested in menage a trois, or men in general. In my view they are mostly lesbians in relationships with men for companionship, who have no sexual interest in the guy.

nope, not all girls are bisexual. finding someone attractive and being sexually attracted to them are incredibly different kettles of fish

also, looking at if their pupils dilate isn't exactly an empirical measure of attraction. look at it this way - if someone said all people are straight, that would cause an outrage, so this should too. no one gets to decide your sexual orientation except yourself idk

I think sexuality falls on a spectrum but it's stupid and kinda offensive to suggest all girls are bisexual. this means all girls are sexually attracted to other girls, which i'm pretty sure is false. it's ridiculous to make sweeping generalisations based on one study. i'm pretty sure some gay people would get turned on by straight porn? it doesn't conclude anything at all if you ask me.
