Rape is not sex. Stfu.

What is it then? Are is sex not involved with rape?

This is a rather interesting and understandable point of view tbh. xD

hahah thank you:') idk it goes against everything that's ingrained in our DNA (i.e to spread as much of our offspring as we can (gross)) so I think it's interesting how we're socialised to believe monogamy's the only way

Have you heard of Dan Savage btw? He knows and understands this, but also tries to appease those who would be jealous if their significant other cheated, either emotionally or physically. He says we need to be 'monogamish', meaning redrawing the boundaries of what's acceptable, so one can be more accommodating to how we are naturally as a species.

So idk, do you think being 'monogamish' (so not completely monogamous but not really being in an open relationship) is the way, or is just having open relationships better?

oooh no but that sounds interesting I'll have to look into that  I think monogamish could definitely work for a lot of people, but some (including me) just feel more comfortable not being exclusive if that makes sense:') it is a weird topic because even though monogamy is unrealistic, jealousy is also a big factor of being human so it is quite hard to find a middle ground

I think in terms of that jealousy, while it may have an evolutionary base, in terms of trying to 'defend' your partner from those that might have sex with them, thus taking away provision time if you're a woman or complete evolutionary failure if you're a man and your partner is pregnant with another man's child, there is a social component. Monogamy is widely regarded as socially acceptable, and indeed the only MORAL way to have a relationship. You'll see that when people say they 'don't understand' open relationships, because society and their own drives tell them their partner should belong to them. It would be rather interesting to see how we'd fare if social pressures/expectations were removed.

So are you in an open relationship or? And if so how many people? haha xD

You don't need a relationship for sex.

No. Just pointing out a fact.
So you have that connection with someone that brings you happiness.
So you can experience love and have someone to share your moments with, with all of your ups and downs and have the other person listen and cheer you up and you do the same for them.
So that you can have someone that makes you feel lucky that you found someone who makes you feel like happiest person on the earth and they've made your life better in some way, whether that's comfort, advice and being a friend they can lean on. Oh and it's always nice to kiss someone and tell them they're beautiful and amazing and have their eyes light up when you do so. Not to mention, have someone appreciate your qualities, flaws and all.

I'm not saying you need these things and can't find comfort or happiness in other things, it's just a nice little addition.

yeah I'd love to find out what human relationships and juxtapositions were like before social expectations like these happened - I imagine women's positions in society were drastically different, as well as gender roles, family types, etc, but sadly I don't think we'll ever know, and maybe other expectations affected it as well :frown:

and nope i'm single  sometimes I date people but it's hardly ever anything serious and usually when I establish that monogamy's not for me they realise it's a lost cause for them

What do you get out of it? Why do you care so much about other people, why do you want a relationship with someone?

Fun, companionship, getting your oats..

Exactly, I do think they've always been there in some form tbh, as in 'slut-shaming' but under another name. But yes we may never know. Perhaps in the distant future if we drastically reduce if not end shaming of non-monogamous relationships and promiscuity, then we'll know, but not before that.

Ah I see haha. Do you go for guys, girls, both or as pansexuals say "the person, not their gender, is important"? xD

Of course. Wait until you are renting or want to buy a house and you'll know what I mean.

Quite. You could even marry one of them (of either sex), if you wanted. There is no need for sexual relationships unless you want children. Even then, you could adopt with a friend as well.

yeah I would never have kids via having sex.

Yeah that's a fair point:') I really hope I can witness it one day tbh

I mean I prefer girls but I have a longer history with guys (they're easier to work out in my opinion - I'm still trying to work girls out properly hahah)
