I'd say I'm in a similar position - 2 in Econ, 6 in History and 14 in Biology. Biology is my 'rest' lesson  a positive of a small school is that we each have our own (albeit small) desk in sixth form!

What kind of schools are other people from? It'd be interesting to find out!

I come from a comprehensive state school with 1200 students, 180 in the sixth form. Sometimes it means you have to work to get heard but I don't mind that too much

In French though there's only about 3 of us who actually contribute so it feels even more daunting when there's a tough question, so sometimes I have to take one for the team  do you mean you have your own desk in that you always have lessons in the same classroom so you sit at that desk, or is there a common room thing where you have a private desk? Either way, that certainly is a benefit of a smaller school!

That must help your learning though! I mean in the sixth form centre we all have our own small desk thing. It's cute to personalise but I spend more time in the common room nowadays - although lots of students use theirs all day :-)

Wow - that is huge! I guess it means you socialise more and get a broad choice of friends though? :-)

Not really, I'm surprised you guys aren't as chatty as the Cambridge bunch actually.

Christ the Cambridge lot are annoying. Went on their chat to see if any offers had came through and stepped mid way through a full blown argument about not bothering going to an interview if your poor as it's just a waste of money (?!), and noped straight out of there..

I've finally found someone else applying there lol

What subject did you apply for?

French and linguistics, you? and are you an international student?

I answered the first question, "All knowledge is good." I think I chose the wrong one. it's just going to put me at a disadvantage.
*sigh*
Although I'm very much surprised that section 2 did not have crazy physics questions unlike those in the past papers.

I'm applying to Lady Margaret Hall. I'm doing IB and predicted 42/45.

What about you?

I answered question 2 - the one stating that assertions made without evidence can just as well be refuted. I thought it was quite a nice question once you got your teeth stuck into it. I thought it was a shame that there were few physics questions in S2 as they always lower the boundaries! I still ran out of time though...

I was going to go for LMH too but went for Oriel in the end after I visited.

Stats:

GCSE: 7A*3A (not great for medicine unfortunately)
AS-level: AAAC (chemistry, physics, maths, further maths respectively)
A-level predicted: A*A*A*C
A-level achieved: A* (biology, Y11)

Best of luck with your application.

HAHAHA, they're alright for the most part. Honestly, that debate was very much uncalled for, I know the guy who was being pounced on and it generally pissed him off big time. He quite clearly stated that Emmanuel college gave the a-ok, but clearly, that wasn't enough

Anyway, have you heard anything yet dude?

Medicine, and no, I'm from Scotland
I'm guessing you're international? Where from?

Is 180 really that big? We have around 210-ish in our year
Lawyers - here is a list of when offers/interviews/rejections were handed out for the main universities in 2014! Looks like interview decisions were around 22 Nov for Oxford, so we probably have a while to wait :-(

Is there anything similar for Classics? The wait is killing me, I just want to be put out of my misery

I tried playing around with the link by substituting 'Classics' for 'Law' but nothing came up :-( it worked for History though. I can't find the place where they all came from, sorry :frown:

Very international 😂 All the way from birmingham haha and good luck with medicine 😩😩😩
Anyone had any interview offers from Merton yet?
Look, not to sound mean or anything but:
We had this question yesterday or so and the email specified that "You will not hear from us before 23 November 2015; this is to give the tutors time to assess all applications."

Holy **** that's ridiculously far, do you have to take a 72 hour flight to get to Oxford or something?? Good luck with your application too, hopefully we'll see each other in college next year lol

Nope, nothing. To be honest, after bombing (I swear on my life I got 30-40% on that) the MAT, I'm just waiting for my lovely rejection letter :h:

How about your other choices? Where else did you apply?

Ah cool!! I applied to UCL and Bristol too - have you thought about which you'll firm/insure yet?

Yeah, that's right. Well, almost, I've applied for Maths and CS + a derivative (lol no pun intended) of that in the form of 'Data Science' at the rest of my choices.

Went with: Warwick (Data Science - offer), Nottingham (Data Science - offer), Bristol (Maths+CS, waiting), UCL (Maths+CS, waiting)

Yeah it's quite nice, we have socials at our local rugby club where people get drunk and dance for an evening. The social side can be bad when you want to concentrate on work though 😂
