Uni of Leeds Physics Interview

I have a physics interview next week at Leeds and I have absolutely no idea what to expect! Has anyone had one before or have an idea of what I should do to prepare if anything?

Is this an interview and applicant day?

Physics interviews are quite rare in general. I had one at Manchester and I got asked things like what the difference is between sin and cosine functions and -cosx/cos(-x), and to give an ever decreasing function that never reaches zero. (e^-x)

From what I've heard from Oxford interviews aswell, they seem to want you be quite on the edge when it comes to functions and graphs. So I would expect something along the lines of this and why you want to do your course etc. Depending on how much maths you've done (eg M3+, FP2/3) they could ask more. I got quizzed a bit about first and second order differentials as I had listed them on my PS.

Good luck

Mines on friday too!
Can you please tell me how it went i have no idea how to prepare how long it will take what sort of questions they will as i know they will be basing it on my personal statement but i want to prepare. if anyone has an tips it would be very helpful. thanks
Well, when we got there and they did the intro talk they said that we basically have a place and not to worry about the interview. I think it is more for to see if they still want you if you miss the grades.
The interview was only like 15minutes long and they put you with an achedemic who specialises in something similar to what it sounds like you're interested in in your personal statement.
For example, I talked about invisibility in mine so she asked me about what light does, all that waves and particle kinda jazz. Then she asked me about the pizo electeic effect, which I completely forgot we even studied, I just had to walk her through how it worked and if I got stuck she'd push me in the right direction. Other people had to go through a mathsy problem. At the end you can ask them questions too, which they seem to like. I stuffed it up and still got an offer so don't worry too much.
If you have any other questions, fire away!

Thanks soo much i was panicking. I will make sure i read about the stuff I wrote in my personal statement. Is it only one person they interview at the same time. Because some universities do it in a group

Yeh there's like 4 different interviewers in different rooms, so you go into your specific person for 15 min then you have to wait in the corredor thing for everyone else to do theirs

Ok wish me luck. Thanks for the tips i appreciate it
