If I have been reallocated for a different college (Brasenose-->Queen's for Biochemistry), does this indicate that my application was considered weak?

Yep! A rejection this morning, which I posted a few posts back :,)

Mind me for asking, but you are so much older than everyone here, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING IN THE PAST 10 YEARS??!?!?:eek::eek::eek::eek:
has anyone heard back from languages or new college??
Hi,

Does anyone know if students are allowed to get a job while studying at Oxford? I've heard it is not allowed to the large workload.

Thanks
Thanks! But are those job opportunities within the university paid?

Well, I'm glad you asked!

I took a gap year at 18, intending to go to Liverpool Uni for Japanese. Went to Japan and studied Japanese , went to Thailand and travelled and experienced the culture. Halfway through my gap year, whilst I was in Thailand, I got a call from the uni saying they had cancelled Japanese, so I couldn't do it now, although I was on a gap year targeted at helping my Japanese.
So, they gave me an alternative (Tourism and leisure), and not wanting to disappoint my family who have never been to Uni, I took it. I went to the uni and started, then got sick with severe anxiety and endomitriosis; both undiagnosed until later. Couldn't focus on my work, so left.
Decided to take a year to go back to college and improve my terrible A Levels, spent the next year in jobs (seasonal town, jobs come and go quickly) and then started college. First week of college, collapsed on bus to college, taken to hospital, immediate surgery on my ovaries , endomitriosis discovered. Am out of action for 8 weeks, college says not worth trying to catch up, try again next year. Sigh. Between then and the next phase, I lived with a boyfriend in Surrey, and then travelled around the UK a lot.
I go back to having jobs and decide to try applying to do something totally different and enrol at another college offering a degree; they let me in with some persuasion, and after 2 months, BOOM, the endomitriosis strikes and I am stuck in bed, unable to leave to do basic life for 4 weeks. Have more extreme hormone treatment. Boyfriend of time says move in with him in London, get better job and money and find a career, education clearly not for me. I do this.
Unsuccesful with uni, I move to London, after 3 months get a job as a trainee hairdresser. Train to be a hairdresser whilst in a horrible dangerous abusive relationship with this guy, can't leave because fear. I finish my training as a hairdresser, do a bunch of extra hairdressing courses and win British Junior hairdresser of the year award, finally leave abusive boyfriend to live on own.

After 18 months of barely surviving on London wages, I am invited with friends in Sweden to stay with them for a while. I agree I need change - go to Sweden, volunteer in school teaching English, attend local community education facility and learn Swedish. Spend a year there, then return here, ready to try and go back to university. Again. Get a nutrition qualification and also do Tarot/Oracle readings to help supplement income.
Move in with current partner, partner has Aspergers and can't work. He does access course at local college. I Can't get funding for Access course, so decide to do Open Uni for credits to gain entry to a uni that way. Try applying for universities whilst having 2 jobs and many homely responsibilities. Get rejected, told to reapply next year because more credits make me more viable.
And here I am. Now living at Brunel Uni with my partner, working 3 jobs and studying like a maniac.

I've had jobs and been working since I was 13 years old, and since 14 had depression and anxiety which was not always treated properly, and virtually ruined my GCSEs and A Levels. But I never stopped wanting to go to University and study my favourite specialisms. I never will. Tooth and nail, to the grave

It's true that they don't really like students having jobs, but if your worried about finance don't be, the university has so much funding that if you would ever get into money problems they'd be sure to help you out😊
Anybody's got interview offers from St. Peters? If so, what course did you apply for? Just curious as I am an impatient person

You probably get this a lot, but I think you're amazing! The grit you've got, seriously good! Good luck with everything!

Awww, that's really sweet and I appreciate it a lot <3 I don't get it much at all, honestly, but totally appreciate it when it pops up. Forgot to mention, I do volunteering at events like London Expo and makes wigs for cosplayers, too. I guess you could say I'm a Jack of all trades; Master of none

But I will me a master one day!

I applied for Chinese at Pembroke. Did you get any email regarding the interview? :frown:

Posted from TSR Mobile

I haven't received an email yet as to whether I've got an interview or been rejected, but for the college I've applied to (St John's) they said in their welcome email that Oriental Studies applicants would have to get to the college for the 7th of December for the interview. They said if you haven't heard a week before that you should email them. I'm guessing invitations/rejections will go out anytime now. I don't know if the dates etc are the same for other colleges though.

For most subjects reallocation is done at department level so no. And if you've got an interview what they've seen makes them think that you've got a chance so don't worry about it

Thanks! I didn't know that.
I was also wondering, will the second college that interviews me only consider me if the first college rejects me? Meaning, if the second college is Exeter, and the first is Queens, can I only be accepted by Exeter if Queens rejects me first?

Are you biochem?

All candidates are graded on their interviews by both Colleges, and these two grades are combined with the initial UCAS grade from the Department to give an overall grade for each candidate and thus a final rank order. After this final grading, Tutors meet again to discuss all the candidates and decide which candidates should receive offers. A candidate may get an offer from their first preference College, the other College that interviewed them, or indeed from any other College. Because all candidates are centrally ranked and decision are subsequently made together by all College Tutors, we can be as confident as possible that the best candidates receive offers regardless of which Colleges they have been interviewed by.

Same here! I heard they send out interview invitations nearer to the end of November, sometimes even just a week before the interview
