Won't end it but will certainly reduce it. Problem with laptops is that new ones are coming out all the time. Had decided on one with my dad and then after we'd agreed it with my mum he found another brand new better but ugly one and now I have to decide between a bit faster and ugly or a bit slower, less ram and looks good.

Haha ... Hope you make the right decision on the laptop :P .

So do I but I just can't tell as I can only see what's online rather than in real life :frown:

IKR but regardless of that I'm sure you'll pick the right laptop. BTW I've updated on my GYG thread.
Today was alright.I had double electronics, RE, English and biology. Electronics was ok. We were working on Inventor, trying to make our designs on it which was quite complicated as we hadn't worked on it before but once we got the hang of it, it was easier to complete than Google Sketch-up. RE wasn't great. We got back our test results and the teacher is obviously much harsher than our last teacher as everyone got much lower marks. Only one person got an A! After correcting our tests, we learnt about what different religions thought about what happened after death. English was alright. We did essay skills and worked on introductions. It took ages and would have been much simpler to just give us the success criteria that she finally gave us at the end of the lesson. Biology was manic. The teacher was off (Hurray! lol) so we had supply. We actually behaved better than usual but she says that she's going to have to report the class to the head of department to get us extra help (Hurray again!). The head of department is great and very proactive so once she's on to the problem by another teacher (we may have told her too much that it was bad and she stopped believing us as the teacher managed to pull something together when she came in to visit :frown:) then we should start getting some solutions  The work was a continuation of last lesson and we actually got given a textbook (revolution lol). We've got to page 10 in only 14 hours lol. We knew we were behind but it makes you actually realise how far!

To do list:
•Memorise my Computing tasks 5-8, prioritising earlier tasks (due Weds 11th)
•Complete all Science notes (when I have my books)
•Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)
•Revise for ECDL (for Thurs 12th)
•Write down my choreography for the dance I'm doing (preferably by Weds 11th)
Do my RE homework (due Thurs 19th DONE)
(edited 8 years ago)
Today was average.
I had double history, double business and maths. For double history we wrote an 8 marker and peer marked 2 exam questions (the explain 8 marker and a message 6 marker which we did for homework) and reviewed them etc. for the first hour before we moved on the learning about the League of Nations failures in Abyssinia. We also got told we have a mock for section one of International Relations which is all about the Treaty of Versailles in 2 weeks time. I already have the revision notes for this so it should be ok. The test will include a 4 mark question, a 6 mark one, a 10 mark judgement question and a message of the source question. We'll have about an hour for this which is a bit generous but I'm not complaining for now! In double business we were learning about co-operative business structures and then the difference between charities and social enterprise. In maths, we recapped standard deviation and tried out doing it on a calculator which was interesting as everyone had different calculators lol. We also got told that we're sitting GCSE statistics at the end of the year! The teacher said he didn't really know much about it but there's course work involved and we're doing the exam this year.

•Complete my business research task (due Thurs 12th)
•Revise for history mini mock (Tues 24th)
•Think about my maths research that will be set tomorrow.
This is really long, I won't blame you if you don't read it all (if there is anyone who reads it)

Yesterday was really busy, hence the lack of an update.
I had double computing, chemistry, maths and PE. Double computing was a bit of a nightmare :frown: I memorised by code and went in and wrote it and it didn't work! I have got my code at home and my fully written code and compared them and I can't find anything different at all :frown: Leaving it now, and will come back to it another day, or later tonight. Chemistry was great  We were learning about moles and all we did was basic maths all lesson  (You can probably tell, I love this kind of thing lol) Maths was interesting. We spent most of the time talking about the homework he was going to set us : What don't I know and what am I doing about it? We chose the due date (next Weds) and the work individually so we can all work in our own styles. I did some worksheets on tree diagrams because they are quite fun but not really easy. I couldn't find any really complicated ones to do but never mind, the teacher will probably be grateful lol. PE was ok, we were back in the gym and we went on the treadmills which was torture after about 10 minutes but was fun (as we got to listen to music with our friends).
After school I did my maths work and then went to drama (1) and drama (2) (different groups) before bed (at some ridiculously late time). Thankfully I only got the maths homework yesterday (apart from fixing my computing).

Today was probably worse than yesterday.
I had biology, ECDL, English, physics and business.
Biology was even worse than usual until the HOD walked in. The biology teacher is really hard to understand and was doing her usual stance of stand an teacher the table in the corner with her back to everyone else. She told us the supply teacher should have told us to answer a whole set of questions on Monday and gave us 2 minutes to answer them. It then took most of the rest of the lesson to go through some of the answers before the HOD walked in and she rapidly moved us on to another sheet lol. Then at the end of the lesson she gave us tonnes of homework (probably to impress the HOD) which is a pain as we have to search up everything individually as we don't know the answers. It was quite good that the HOD came in though as she asked a random boy what he's learnt this lesson and he said not much so she knows we aren't learning much. It was also good that it wasn't us that got her in, it was the supply teacher from Monday so she definitely knows it's not just us. (just realised what an essay that was about biology oops sorry)
ECDL was ok. We took the progress test and I got 100%. It was definitely the easiest one we've done so far thought so that wasn't a measure of much. We then did a couple of tasks in excel as usual while listening to Capital on sir's big speakers. English was reviewing our lesson with our other teacher on Monday and then reading page 50-51. He said at the beginning of the lesson we're gonna do lots of reading today as we're really far behind and then we only did 2 pages lol. tbf we do need to get it done as we're missing 2 lessons with him for enterprise days in 2 weeks and we still have another 35 odd pages to read! Physics was ok. We moved room to the astrometry room which has blackouts on the windows which made me really sleepy but we were doing about how changing the for or the mass affects the acceleration so it wasn't too difficult. Business was normal. First we finished off the poster on social enterprises and then we presented them.
After school, I had the National Cipher Challenge. Part A was really quick and part B didn't take much longer. All submitted in less than 30 minutes after I started working on it
Then I've done half of my biology homework and half of my physics this evening.

To do list:
•Memorise my Computing tasks 5-8, prioritising earlier tasks [I actually think my code is complete but there must be something wrong with it so I'll see what I can find] (due Mon 16th)
•Complete all Science notes (when I have my books)
•Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)
•Complete the rest of my biology homework -fill the gaps worksheet (due Fri 20th)
•Complete my physics homework- gravitational acceleration (due Thurs 19th)
•Revise for history mini mock (Tues 24th)
•Complete my choreography- started at last! (when I can, Sunday??)
(edited 8 years ago)
Apologies for no update yesterday, had a lot on.
I had maths, English, PE, pshe and history.
In maths we got given a set of data and are going to do a project with them over the next few lessons. We started doing some graphs on the data in groups and then we're going to share the information next lesson. In English we read more of A Christmas Carol. We're going through it quite fast now and we've nearly finished stave 3 (finally). In PE we were back in th gym. I did 8km on the bike which was quite good (particularly as it made me warm after break when I was freezing). PSHE was the usual joke. We do it with our form teacher and he's one of the few form teachers who actually insist we do the work :frown: The powerpoints are copied from our citizenship lessons in the lower school so it is a complete waste of time. I just sat there half paying attention and half doing my choreography. (yes I know I shouldn't but you have to be there to realise what a waste of time it is) History was good. We finished Abyssinia and next lesson we're going to do an exam question on it. Then we're going to summarise the whole topic before hopefully we'll have time for some revision next Friday before our mock the next week.
After school I had my piano lesson and youth club volunteering to do so I didn't get much homework done (just half my physics).
Today I had rehearsals in the morning and then when I got home after a bit of homework my laptop arrived ! 5 days early! I've since spent an hour or so with more volunteering and then set up my laptop so now I need to get on with my homework :frown:

To do list:
•Memorise my Computing tasks 5-8, prioritising earlier tasks [I actually think my code is complete but there must be something wrong with it so I'll see what I can find- I found the missing line- forgot to put in an assignment of one variable to another :frown: so frustrating] (due Mon 16th)
•Complete my English storyboard of stave 3 (due Weds 18th)

Pointless then.
Today was quite good.
I had double computing, ECDL, Chemistry and PE.In double computing I finally managed to get my program so that I've finished tasks 5-7 and I just have task 8 to go  I still have the evidencing to do for tasks 5-7 but that shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. We had a supply teacher for the second hour which made the class a bit more disruptive but I did manage to get some of my testing done as well as helping my partner who is miles behind and keeps making really annoying sounds every couple of seconds so it was more productive to help him then do my work than just do my work.In ECDL we were supposed to be making our own progress test after completing the tasks set last lesson but the tasks took ages and as the teacher said we could listen to music we didn't really do many questions. For chemistry, we were doing more about moles. We attempted to do a practical with heating magnesium to calculate the mass of magnesium and oxygen but it didn't work as it took too long so in the end we ended up taking the magnesium and putting it in the flame to see the colour instead. We got set homework  (not on timetable) which is a pain as I have loads to do. In PE we did almost nothing  We were supposed to be playing squash but the gym's balls had been stolen by one of the gym members and so someone had to go back into school to find a new packet which meant by the time we were back we only had about 15-20 minutes between 8 of us on the court. We all just sat there on our phones for 95% of the time lol.
To do list

Memorise task 8 for Computing (next lesson Weds 25th, not urgent as will do evidencing next lesson)

Complete all my science notes (when I have my books)

Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)

Complete my English storyboard for stave 3 (Weds 18th)

Complete the rest of my biology gap fill (try and get help at catch-up tomorrow? Or guess, due Fri 20th)

Complete my chemistry sheet (Weds 25th)

Revise for my history mini mock (Tues 24th)

Revise for 4.6 skills in ECDL(if time, Mon 30th)

Complete my choreography- started at last! (when I can as the director doesn't seem to know what he wants so might change his mind again about if I'm doing it)

Wow that seems like a long list, best get cracking!

Today was very busy.
I had double history, double business, English then biology catch-up.
For history, we were summarising the Manchuria and the Abyssinia crisis and the League of Nations overall failures. We wrote an exam question for Abyssinia and also got feedback for last weeks exam questions (yay I got full marks for all of them ) For business, we were learning about multi-national companies and globalisation. We did a whole load of exam questions in the second hour and the teacher told us we have a test next Thursday which is funny as it's an off timetable skills day so we're not in the lesson. For English, we were doing essay skills again and we spent the lesson writing 'topic sentences' or point in PEE. After school, in biology, we were doing evolution and then asexual plants. We've only got 3 of the sessions left :frown: so we need to get on a bit.

To do list:

Memorise task 8 for Computing (next lesson Weds 25th, not urgent as will do evidencing next lesson)

Complete all my science notes (when I have my books)

Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)

Complete the rest of my biology gap fill (guess as I have no clue!, due Fri 20th)

Revise for my history mini mock (Tues 24th)

Revise for 4.6 skills in ECDL(if time, Mon 30th)

Complete my choreography- started at last! (when I can as the director doesn't seem to know what he wants so might change his mind again about if I'm doing it)

Revise for business test (probably will be Tues 1st Dec.)

Now I've almost done my homework the list suddenly seems much less long for some reason. Still have a lot of notes to write though :frown:

I've written my History exam for last week and it's still not marked, I can predict I didn't do to well as I was very tired by P5/6 that day. Good look with Biology, I have my B1 and C1 mock exam next Tuesday :frown: .

I hate it when teachers leave us hanging. We handed in our computing section 1 2 weeks before half term and he said he's get it back to us the week after half term and we realised yesterday that he still hadn't given it to us (on the one day he wasn't here). Our history mock is p1 so I'm more worried about not being awake as in the mornings I feel completely dead whatever time I go to bed :frown: Thanks for the good luck in biology. I hope that the HOD coming in last lesson will have helped but she didn't say anything this evening so I can't be sure.
Good luck with all your exams next week

Thanks, I haven't been lucky with any exam lately except the French reading exam in which I got an A* but that the luckiness backfired with the French listening paper where the majority had failed as it was that difficult, I couldn't understand what the person was saying as it was quite inaudible.

Biology has been better but I would still prefer another teacher teaching me anyways preferably having my main teacher (Chemistry/Physics teacher) teaching me the Triple Sciences as he's alright with Biology though it's not his specialism.

np, hopefully your luck is saving up for your mocks. I hate French listenings, they're always really difficult :frown:
Glad your biology has been better, mine has been about the same although apparently we have 'the easiest progress end of topic test ever' coming up and I'm betting on at least half the class failing anyway (at least half the class have completely given up so won't have a chance).
I'd love to have (pretty much) any other biology teacher teaching us but we're really short on them (they've made PE teachers teach biology instead) so there's not a chance of that unless our teacher gets fired :frown:
Yesterday was a usual busy Wednesday.
I had double electronics, English, physics and maths.
For electronics we were doing our design work in Inventor. It didn't quite work out as the computers kept crashing for no reason but also the teacher spent over 30 minutes helping the same person and by the end of that half the class had their hand up because something wasn't working (new software problems). He set us homework which is a pain as he almost never does and it's due Monday which is a bit annoying as I haven't got long this weekend. In English we finished stave 3 (finally) and for homework we have to write about it. In physics we were doing terminal velocity. We did a practical with parachutes and plastic figures which was a bit boring but we got to stand on the tables so it was quite funny. In maths, we got given a new set of data and we started analysing it. In the evening, I did my 2 drama classes and then went to bed.

Today I had maths, physics, chemistry, RE and business.
In maths, we continued with what we were doing yesterday, analysing the data with stem and leave diagrams and standard deviation. In physics we were doing stopping distances, for which we made graphs for etc. In chemistry, we did % yields and empirical formulas which was fun as it's just simple maths  In RE we were talking about the elderly but we didn't mention religion all lesson so it was a bit strange (and didn't seem like it was useful for the exam but maybe it was). Finally, in business we did a bit of work on our student investor portfolios and then worked on public corporations. We also got homework and revision which is bad as it wasn't on the timetable and she told us to do it when it was despite the fact the next time it is on the timetable is after it is due in.

To do: (tonnes of homework :frown:)
•Memorise task 8 for Computing (next lesson Weds 25th, not urgent as will do evidencing next lesson)•Complete all my science notes (when I have my books)
•Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)
•Complete the rest of my biology gap fill (guess as I have no clue!, due Fri 20th)
•Revise for my history mini mock (Tues 24th)
•Revise for 4.6 skills in ECDL(if time, Mon 30th)
•Complete my choreography (when I can as the director doesn't seem to know what he wants so might change his mind again about if I'm doing it)
•Revise for business test (Tues 1st Dec.)
•Complete my electronics mini exam paper (due Mon 23rd)
•Do my English stave 3 summary (Weds 2nd Dec)
•Complete my business sheet (DONE)
•Find a news article for my RE homework (Mon 23rd)

loads of work to do :frown: and only really Saturday afternoon or potentially Sunday afternoon to do it :frown:
(edited 8 years ago)
Yesterday I had biology :frown:, English, PE, maths and history.
Biology was the usual do nothing. I made the decision to guess for the gap fill but so few people had done it that she says it's due in on Monday now. She did collect the other homework though. English, we started stave 4 and did some PEE paragraphs about setting in stave 4. For PE, we did fitness again which was ok. We also found out that the new girl in our year is in the top 5 for her specialism in athletics in her previous country which was a bit of a surprise but it did explain her enthusiasm for fitness. In maths, we did presentations about the data we were analysing yesterday but after most of them he decided that it as taking too long so we didn't have to do ours. Finally, in history we were typing up section 2 revision notes which was good until with about 15 minutes left word crashed and lost all my work :frown: so I had to start again :frown:

To do:
•Memorise task 8 for Computing (next lesson Weds 25th, not urgent as will do evidencing next lesson)
•Complete all my science notes (when I have my books)
•Complete investments for business (before 4:30 every week day)
•Revise for my history mini mock (Tues 24th)

•Complete my choreography (when I can as the director doesn't seem to know what he wants so might change his mind again about if I'm doing it)
•Revise for business test (Tues 1st Dec.)
•Complete my electronics mini exam paper ( half done, due Mon 23rd)
•Do my English stave 3 summary (Weds 2nd Dec)
Today I had double electronics, RE, English and biology.
In double electronics we were supposed to be just putting the finishing touches to our design but the software was extremely buggy and kept deleting everyone's work and then the teacher had to go so we had a supply teacher for the second half. Thankfully the software didn't lose most of my work this lesson but it was being extremely awkward in that it was refusing to move parts of my piece and remove the work planes which were causing a lot of trouble so I didn't manage to finish it. It's a professional piece of software so it's very frustrating that it goes wrong so easily and frequently. In RE we were doing religious attitudes to the elderly which was quite boring but could have been worse. We also got told we have an assessment next lesson. In English, we were doing sources. I have no clue why, or what we were supposed to learn as we're currently doing essay skills with this teacher but I'm sure there was a purpose of it. In biology we quite possibly had the best lesson yet. We were continuing with the sheet we were doing and she wrote the structure and function of the remaining leaf parts (a bit of a shame since we started a video on it last lesson) then she wrote some other comparisons etc. on the board and just left us to it with a textbook page. It was great particularly as we got to work at our own pace and everything was written down for us so we didn't have the language barrier to deal with, or her teaching one corner of the classroom.

To do:
•Memorise task 8 for Computing (next lesson Weds 25th, not urgent as will do evidencing next lesson)

Glad you had a great day especially Biology. I had to stand outside in the cold for a good 20 mins as I watched the staff being so disorganised with the schedule for the mock exams. I was particularly furious with how they failed to notice History students needed paper for the sourced based question, it took the invigilators ages to go round with lined paper. Tomorrow I have B1 and C1 together in a 2hrs session probably without a break and I'm dreading to witness how disorganised they are, I wish I had a better HOY.
