For Southampton, I had to call up. If you have written on your application that you have a long term health condition (mine was type 1 diabetes) for some reason their system flags it up! Give them a call - I had my interview last tuesday, I called up on Friday and they updated UCAS 10 minutes after the phone call saying I had been successful!

I have also applieid to Reading, I got an email on the day after I applied to UCAS asking me when I expected my module results. Have not heard anything since!

I have applied for Reading in Secondary. Nothing yet.

I have some materials but all about language teaching. Which subject are you applying for?

Science (Biology specialism). There isnt an awful lot worth mentioning for my subject! :frown:

Have you had any school experiences before? If so ask your colleagues for some information maybe? Good luck anyway!

Me neither. When did you submit your application and what subject are you applying for? I read it on UCL web that interviews won't start until December.

Oh really? I know they have started primary PGCE interview, but not secondary.

I applied on the 3rd November, and its for secondary maths.

How about you

I will copy and paste my post

Anyone have any hints for educational issues particularly aimed at secondary? I was thinking about discussing the obvious teacher shortage, as this is being covered a lot particularly recently regarding employment of international teachers to fill the gaps and 'bidding wars' between schools for the best teachers. With the aim to discuss where things may be going wrong to detract from the role. Good or bad idea?

Yes I've been working in a school for about a year now. Wish I had done that, my interviews are this week and I won't get the chance to ask them now. Was trying to pick their brains on so many other things, and I didn't ask about this! Thank you
KCL just sent me an email saying they've received my application and giving me my log in details to their portal.

I can't lie, when I saw it I assumed it was them saying I'd been unsuccessful. I have this idea of all the other applicants I'm up against and they are all much better than me. So much self confidence tonight!
Has anyone been to a UCL interview? I have one next week, any tips??

Hi everyone.

Been lurking since the start of the thread but thought I would say hi as I have my first general primary interview tomorrow at UWE and nerves are starting to kick in.

Skills tests booked for two weeks today and really need to focus on my maths as struggling with time limit and no calculator section.

Big well done to everyone who has secured a place already. Managed to get 3 out of 3 interviews so my application must have been ok.

I am 32 nearly 33 and have two boys 5 and almost 4 so will be starting back at school with my youngest.

Congrats... I've had my interview there (and been accepted)
I'm 25, I'll be 26 on Tuesday next week. On the same day as my first interview, which is at my first choice institution. Here's hoping it's a good omen.

Those who've done a sample teach, did you take any activities? The one I currently have planned doesn't involve an activity, but does involve a lot of interaction and questioning. Only have 20-30 minutes.

Cheers for doing that :-)

I would aim at more at science... How about talking about the new grading system (I.e. Instead of A*-G it being 1-9)

You could then talk about the GCSE and A-Level moving away from modular to linear and AS not going towards the A-Level grade.

You can mention about science becoming more mathematically challenging and for more topics to be introduced to GCSE such as human genome and space physics which is currently saved for AS level.
Hi everyone! I applied for Primary PGCE at Southampton, Winchester and Chichester at the weekend (delayed references!) and have a interview for Chichester on the 2nd December, just wondering if anyone else on here has applied for any of those choices or possibly had an interview for Chichester? I'm proper nervous! Thanks
