I don't think so. You can't for Trinity. (Or King's or Downing, from googling)

https://share.trin.cam.ac.uk/sites/public/Tutorial/Admissions-UG/Preinterviewnotes.pdf
"You will be asked to take a mathematics test during the hour before your interview time. Some of theproblems should be easy and some hard, and we hope you will tackle as many as you can in the timeallotted. You will be expected to work out your solutions without the aid of notes, books or calculators butconditions otherwise will be as informal as we can make them. You should try to finish questions ascompletely as you are able to. More information and examples of past tests can be found on the Collegewebsite at http://www.trin.cam.ac.uk/admissions/ug/subjects/mathematics."

I imagine the questions won't lend themselves to using a calculator... :K:

Big G is easily used since its in standard form nicely, that is prob whys

Well I hope not, otherwise I'll be patiently waiting for my rejection in January lol

I could do pages of advanced algebra but my mental maths is tragic I think

Yeah that's true, but when you put it in eg the gravitational force equation with other random numbers, like r=1.89x10^7 I won't be able to do it lmao

I found it but it says at the front of the paper for the Physics constants appropriate estimates should be made.

Hmm... how recent is the paper... and that's Trinity not Magdalene

Maybe ask your college exactly what their requirement is.

I don't think calculators are relevant for this one

and not allowed for this (linked from the current NatSci info page)

Our son had a Sydney interview last year - it is definitely a bit harder with just the one interview which is totally subject based and not much of a discussion about you

oooh okay, thanks! that was clarifying

Hmm... I think I prefer it like this though, just because I don't have to worry as much about how I appear as the focus is on what I can do, not what I'll say about myself

Yes - I think from memory there was a couple of questions to put him at ease ( nothing from his PS was asked about) and then it was just solving physics and maths problems. It took about 35 minutes.

I think this might actually be the way the Emma maths 'interviews' are conducted. Two 35 minutes 'interviews' where you solve maths and physics problems. (At least, that's what their site says.)
Course: Medicine
College: Trinity
Student: EU (I have qualifications from the US, Canada, Poland and Scotland O_O)
Interview: 2 interviews on Dec 8th!!! - I am an emotional tornado...I am super excited for the opportunity to go to Cambridge (I've never visited) and I'm curious to see what supervisions are like (since I have heard that the interviews are supposed to be sort of like a mock supervision) but at the same time I'm a little nervous as to what topics and questions might come up :/ How have you guys been preparing? How much extra reading have you done? xx
Does anyone know if Cambridge is obligated to interview anyone who applied with extenuating circumstances because I think that that is the only reason why they've invited me for interview :frown: ???
