That was a worry for me too but I think it's good thing, we've got a lot of new options coming in every year because King's is expanding their business school.

The split in the first year between economics and management is meant to be 50/50 but it feels slightly more edging towards management. That being said, in your second and third year you can choose to limit the number of management modules you take so you could be specialising in Economics by the end of your degree

So far I've enjoyed my experience, I think it's been interesting to have management in my course as well, I think it gives a more applicable understanding of business rather than simply theoretical with economics

I am so happy that I got an offer for E&M from King's!! And it is my first choice!

However, I am just wondering if this course suits me: because I have always wanted to learn more about economics (purely because I want to be a journalist specialising in economics (possibly)), but this is a new course and taught by the management school.

Therefore, I don't know if a more management based course will help me that much...

But apart from that, King's attracts me so so much and I really want to be there!!

The main econ department at King's is in the school of management (the other one is political economy and is indeed outside management but is more of a political science department). There are exchanges with the campuses of the University of California (Berkeley, UCLA, etc).
I think its quite a balanced course so very adapted for a journalistic career.

Hey, I'm done with my grade 12 and took a gap year and I'm going to apply to KCL next week. I'm from India and I've scored a 94% in grade 11 and 82.3% in grade 12. I've completed my high school education (11th and 12th) from state board (AP) so, we usually consider the 12th grade result to be an overall average of 11th and 12th which is 89% for me. (My subjects were math,phy and chem). I want to take up business and management at kcl and my admission counselor has told me that they highly consider math scores for business/ management studies and I got a 149/150 (grade 11) and 122/150 (grade 12). What are my chances of getting in and could you provide some more useful information about the criteria for Indian students to get admitted to King's? (There's not much useful information on the website) Kindly, help me out with is based on whatever you know.

The other universities I'm applying to are:
University of Edinburgh
University of Warwick
University of Nottingham
University of Southampton

It's difficult to say really. I think it depends on the competition for the course and seeing how things went last year with not just King's but most other unis, my bet is that you'll need to get the grades in order to get in. Hope this helps!

In your first year, probably not. Personally, most of my classes are shared with the Business Management course. However, in second year, you'll have the option to specialise in economics or keep the same breadth as your first year. My only recommendation is - if you enjoy more maths, Economics and Management is likely to be the better course for you

I'm afraid I'm not too sure about Indian applications! What i would do is just email the admissions team at King's and I'm sure they will be a lot more useful on this than me!

However, it's difficult to say whether or not you'll get into a uni just dependant on grades - stuff like the personal statement can give people an edge even if their grades aren't incredible (but your percentages seem pretty strong as they are anyway!)

So far, the maths has not been too hard. If you can manage an A at A level maths, you should be fine. The thing with this course is that it's as mathematical as you want it to be, the modules you choose next year will have some degree of breadth to them so if you don't want to be doing too much maths, you don't have to!
