Some clarification on this question would be much appreciated

I try to avoid focusing on the grades solely, but instead do my best to learn as much as possible. However, lately a question about grades has been bothering me. I know I should primarily seek answers from Oxford themselves, but I've actually tried multiple times - without success.

So, on their website it is said that they require the following:

Avgångsbetyg with a total of 2500 points, with scores of A or B in the majority of relevant subjects.

Now, in Sweden the different subjects are split into multiple courses with individual grades. So there are two ways to interpret this:

1. If I am studying 3 relevant subjects for example, I have to achieve grade A in every course in at least two of the relevant subjects in order to qualify.

2. If I, once again, am studying 3 relevant subjects that consist of 10 courses in total I will have to achieve grade A in at least 6 of the relevant courses, regardless of (relevant) subject.

To finish off my Q, I intend to apply to CS at Oxford, and will take 6 maths courses in total (1-5 + specialisation) and am worried that I will most likely receive a B grade in Maths 2. Do grades matter to the extent that I should forget applying to oxford because of that one grade?

What do you think? Any help is much appreciated!

I suggest you send us a mail at [email protected], and we can think about it. It would be useful if you could point us at more information about the Avgångsbetyg, e.g. how it's graded, and some statistics about how common A and B grades are. From what you've said, the standard offer should probably be asking for A or B in the majority of relevant courses, rather than subjects.
