Drab, dreary and dull. Still, we're top of the group.
I think we've played a decent team, largely because of the weekend's result and Klopp's desire to turn the team's fortunes around sooner rather than later. In truth, there's only four or so of those players that definitely needed a start - Smith, Henderson (for fitness), Origi and Firmino (to banish the memory of the weekend).
I thought Smith had a really good cross on him. We saw that for Origi's final goal in the blitz at St. Mary's, and the youngster seemed intent to do the same tonight. I thought the pitch was dreadful, and it was probably in everybody's mind to just coast through the game without getting an injury.
The context of the match can only be proven this weekend, though. Hopefully we dispatch WBA with ease, but the Europa League and playing so quickly in the domestic league after it throws up tricky propositions. Let's hope we have enough to combat that.
Fair play to Dejan Lovren, too. Not mentioned on here yet (I don't think, anyway) but he's been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month.
As much as we've been draw experts seemingly this season, tonight was our first in ten matches. We're one of only six teams to get through the group stage unbeaten (alongside Napoli, Lazio, Besiktas, Schalke and Sparta Prague).
We'll see who we get on Monday in the draw. I pray we avoid Valencia and Dortmund, because - with us focusing on the league - I could do without the hysteria and narrative surrounding a Klopp return to Germany or us meeting Gary Neville.
