our form teacher was talking to us about IBs the other day and sais how much more useful they were than A levels bc they teach you life stuff, i wouldn't want to do the compulsory things tho :frown:

Nah, you live in this weird IB bubble where you constantly question reality. You get marks in essays if you question the basis of the question lol. You only get one choice. You have to do:
English
Maths
A science
A language
A humanity
50 hours of creativity (music/art etc, but must be extracurricular)
50 hours of action (sport)
50 hours of service (volunteer work)
Theory of knowledge (kind of like general studies and critical thinking)
Extended essay (EPQ)
On top of that, you do a sixth subject of your choice.

Nothing weird with that, if you have a passion for a subject go for it :u:

Not a private school, I went to a grammar school. I do know state schools that offer it though. There are quite a few schools that do it over the country .

Nah AQA is worse :afraid:

I did last year

Mine were:
English Literature
Classical Civilisation
Geography
Chemistry

I was also going to take biology put i quickly realised that science was not my forte (initially wanted to do the whole medicine thing).

At the start of AS i hated English with a passion. Now i'm going to read English at Cambridge next year. Gosh how things change

Yeahh
Biology, English Literature,Psychology and Latin

I did 3/4 of those subjects (computing instead of latin) and used to get the oddest stares when I told people. They couldn't figure out what I wanted to do  To be fair I hadn't a clue either at that stage.

I do too!

But now I'm in a mixed 6th form. It's an odd transition.

I'm starting university in 2016 after getting an unconditional offer from leicester with Geology, Geography and Art as my A levels.
I always got comments on how weird it is to mix Art with Earth science, and i was constantly paranoid that i would receive no offers, especially as so many earth science courses were looking for hard science subjects at A level, of which i had none.(i only applied to two courses in the end as i didn't meet the subject requirements for so many!)
Anyone else taken a mix of a levels people consider unorthodox? A mix of arts and sciences perhaps?

Although not 'as bad' as mixing Art in, but- Psychology, Geography and English Literature.

[Although, Geography Skills and Psychology Research Methods A2 do mix really well!]

No. It's much harder. Some American unis allow you to go straight into second year if you have done the IB.

I wouldn't say it's academically harder... some US Colleges also allow that advance with A-Levels.
