Non Christians celebrating Christmas?

I know many non-Christians who celebrate it I asked why they said for the gifts.Is it ok for them to do this?What do you think about it?I am not sure if presents is a reasonable reason for it as in many religious celebrations such as Hannukah,Ramadan gifts are exchanged.What is your opinion of this?

Way to pass an old thread off as your own.
As was said on the last thread - atheists aren't all gift-grubbing hypocrites. It's possible to celebrate Christmas as a family tradition.

Most just celebrate it for the presents, the foods and it's a great time of the year to be with family and friends... It has nothing to do with a religious celebration...

Christmas existed as a pagan festival long before Jesus was born. It never used to be a Christian festival, and to most people now it still isn't.

It's just a traditional time to get together with family and enjoy the holidays, plus the point is giving gifts, not receiving them.

Given that Christmas is half-plagiarised from pre-Christian winter festivals, I'm inclined to think that you're just regurgitating nonsense that you've been brought up to believe as if it's indisputable fact when it's neither indisputable nor fact.

Christians do not own the 25th day December (there's no evidence to suggest that Jesus was even born on that date; it was picked for purely different reasons). Christmas is about presents and Santa Claus and has been to most people for a great many years. Get educated and get over it.

If you don't like presents for whatever bizarre reason, fine. Don't try to tell the rest of us that we can't take time off work and have a good time.

Tell that to the millions of white people who celebrate it but have no clue that it's the birth of Jesus. Nobody attends Church, they see it as a reason to eat, drink, give and receive presents.

Christians have a right to believe that Christmas is about Christ. Others dont celebrate Christmas because they dont accept Jesus as the Christ/Messiah. Others celebrate Christmas because gifts, happiness, family.

I celebrate Christmas on the 24 not the 25.I do not care that it was a pagan festival it no longer is get over it Athiest.In my country we celebrate Santa day on the 6.As well as Santa has been celebrated in England for not that long as it was brought in recently couple hundreds years ago when Albert married Queen Victoria as it was a tradition in Germany not England.

Of course it's okay, this is a free country and people should be free to celebrate what they want. As a Christian I'm certainly not offended or anything by non-Christians celebrating Christmas.

'Hundreds of years ago' is 'not that long' ago? What a pathetic attempt at justifying your ridiculous belief that Christmas as it's been celebrated for many years has anything to do with the birth of Jesus..

Santa isn't even a huge thing for people over the age of 8; most people just enjoy giving gifts and getting together with family to have a good time. Why on Earth you have a problem with that, I don't know.

If you're that dissatisfied with how it's celebrated in England, then don't live in England. It's as simple as that. No need to be an illiterate (ever heard of a comma?) bigot. Keep those panties unbunched, sweetheart. :wink:
