the most important thing imo is a compatible personality, cos this is someone you are going to spend a lot of time with (and hopefully grow old with) so you need to be able to make each other laugh and get on very well obvs

good sense of humour and not easily offended

loyal/trustworthy goes without saying

interesting enough to sustain a conversation and intelligent enough to discuss interesting things

able to handle disagreements maturely, because disagreements are inevitable

be kind, caring and empathetic (as i am too)


but, ultimately, the most important quality is just be someone who you want to share life with.
