Having a human player to protect the defence and distribute the ball is a huge advantage.
Normally the ANY person has attackers from the opposing side running at the defenders from all angles, but with somebody in DM who can focus only on their own player and movement, it's great for us in terms of possession retention and attack building. It also helps to have somebody to shield the defence too; break up attacks and counter effectively.
I think my positioning comes down to trust. Sometimes I want to be an extra passing option for Difeo so he doesn't lose the ball but ultimately if we are to score goals, I shouldn't always be coming so deep and should trust in the other teammates to get the ball forward.
Like I said, a 4-4-1-1 formation would suit me perfectly however I do very much like the diamond that we played with yesterday.
The thing is if you go deep in play I will tend to push forward to make an extra man. I like to play within myself and then either score from range or score inside the box. I have a weird style of play but it involves playing in tight spaces by creating space.
