Barely travelled anywhere and I'm 22?

I actually have some savings, it's the time thing too.

Maybe it's because a lot of my friends are upper middle class. My family are well off though I dont have an inheritance like a lot of people I know, but the people I know are the left wing Islington types yet judge others on things like this!

You didn't go on family holidays growing up?

Due to caring responsibilities and lack of money I haven't even been to places like germany or spain, and everyone my age seems to have travelled a lot more places than me.

Would you judge someone for not having travelled places? Because of my job a lot of my friends are older middle class people in their 30s and they often seem to look down on me or take the piss out of the fact I haven't travelled.

I'm twenty and I've never been beyond Wales - like you, the money wasn't there and I'd like to think that's something you wouldn't judge someone on. At least - if someone were to judge me on that, I don't think that's the kind of person I'd want in my life regardless.

I'm in the same boat. I only started travelling quite late (23 onward). I've still got a long way to go before I would even be remotely considered as "well-travelled".

Just go on a weekend away to European cities with a friend. It's how I started.

TBF people my age whom I've met at uni and such never judged me for this so much even though Warwick had a lot of toffs who went on expensive "gap years", its mostly the people I work with now who are champagne socialist types and in their 30s anyway

Yeah, on the open day at Warwick, I noticed a lot seemed to be middle class or above. On a side note - you went to Warwick? I'm desperately hoping to get an offer from them.

And if they're going to judge, they're not worth your time, in my opinion. What a ridiculous thing to judge someone on. Also, like you said, they're in their thirties - you're in your early twenties, you have plenty of time.

I'll be fair, most of my travel has been localised. As in mainly in Europe, but that's because I specialise in European Languages. I heavily recommend the Netherlands, as while I don't speak the language of Dutch, it is an amazing country from start to end. France, also has some hidden gems. Avoid Paris like the plague, the best bits of France are not there but are rather in Lille, Le Mans, Lyon, Bordeaux and Strasbourg to name a few.

Despite all the negative recent coverage about what happened over New Year's, Cologne is definetely an ace location too, and I need not mention Berlin. Berlin is just amazing. I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, but make sure you take one of the free tours that leave from Starbucks by the Brandenburg gate. You will not be disappointed.

One place to avoid though - Luxembourg. It's not rough or violent or anything like that, but it is extremely boring! It's a tiny country with it's own language (French 2nd and German 3rd languages) which is sandwiched between the regions of Champagne-Ardenne (Northeastern France), Wallonia (the southern half of Belgium) and North Rhine-Westphalia (the West of Germany). The country itself is about the size of Manchester.

My French is good because I've been to Paris etc. but I can't speak any other languages apart from Dutch (as I posted above my family is from there so I have been to the Netherlands ). Would this be a problem?
