Do you plan on getting married in the future?

I asked one of my mates and his girlfriend the other day if they ever planned to get married, to which sparked a debate with one party saying they did want to and the other saying they really didn't want to (obviously an awkward situation for me at the time)..

If you're a woman go for it.

if you're a man, 50% chance of divorce and 100% chance of her taking half your stuff?....No thanks.

If I ever find the right woman who meets my needs and fulfils my criteria, then yes.
Yeah if we are planning on having children I like the idea ofboth the parents and the children to have the same last name to unite them... A bit old fashioned I know :P

Lol Whats your Criteria
I'd love to get married because I'd love to have kids, and I'd love for my kids to have a father figure, so artificial insemination is out of the question.
1) Not until my late 20s i.e 28+ or early 30s i.e 32 and under.
2) I've achieved all personal goals.
3) Sign a prenup just encase.

She must be a person of faith. She must be from the same ethnic group as me. It would be nice if she had a decent family background without any major red flags. She must be a virgin, she can't have had any previous boyfriends, never been touched or kissed by any other men previously. So she needs to be pure and untainted.
Yes i do intend to marry and sire heirs.

Would like to, but am probably too ugly to find someone who'd want to marry me. Been single my whole life, FML...

You know marriage doesn't automatically change the surname, right? I won't be changing mine.

To OP: yes. Not so I can run off with half his stuff - my earning potential is bigger than his anyway, so would likely go in his favour - but for the legal protection it affords RE: next of kin / if one of us were to suddenly die etc. Not terribly romantic, but hey.

We have already planned to elope to Vegas and spend all the typical 'wedding budget' in casinos.

I fear the thought of being physically and emotionally restrained, I like being independent in everything.
