Isn't Islington (his house) expensive? Im sure he went to private school too
A keen cyclist said he likes a bike

Random people fundraise to buy him the bike as a joke (without him asking them to, or vice versa)

They then plan to donate the money raised to charity

The keen cyclist gets criticised. Lol.

Your quib is traditionaly aimed at taxation and state socialist programs or any kind of redistribution via taxation. IN this case people volunteeringly gave up their money to give to someone else.

Unless right wingers are apposed to that now as well. You would have to be the biggest spiteful authoritarian to be against crowdfunding :s-smilie:

They're not donating all of it, but the remainder.

I think its a bit weird even though I'm left wing. Why not give all the money to charity, he is earning more than them and can buy his own bike

I'm against crowdfunding for individual politicians and well-off people. Politicians get enough of our money and well-off people have enough money to buy their own stuff. I don't care if it's voluntarily, it's ridiculous.

You have people who are complaining that they don't have enough money yet are happily giving more money to a politician who doesn't need it.

You are correct, my apologies.

Still, they raised £4000, and even after the bike (if Corbyn even accepts it, which I doubt he will) that leaves 90% of it going to charity. So I don't really see the problem.

If Corbyn accepts the bike then you can perhaps complain, but he hasn't even done that. There's nothing to even suggest he knew about the campaign, nor did he ask for any donations, so to try and make him look bad for this is ridiculous.

How wonderfully communist in sentiment.

You'll be complaining how employers extract the surplus from the workers next!

Exactly. Why not donate to a charity Corbyn has nominated, he already has a bike like the one they got anyway

Im not trying to make him look bad although I agree it would look bad if he accepted it. I think the idea of left wing people donating to him when there are a lot of better campaigns they could be crowdfunding for is odd though

So you are criticising individuals choosing to donate £3600 (if Corbyn accepts the bike, which he won't) of their own money to charity? Strange.

It's not for you to tell people how to spend their money. Especially not when 90% (more likely 100%, as I said) is donated to charity.

Hmm. I see.

On an entirely unrelated note, I like Aston Martins.

The original intent was to get him a bike lol. There is only money going to charity because they went over the limit

It's not "telling" but I can find it strange

It being a bit ridiculous is still not a reason to criticise Corbyn, who did not ask them for money or for the bike.

As for your last part, how do you know it's the same people?
That's a nice sentiment.

By the way, David Cameron wanted a private jet to go visit his Saudi Arabian pals, so all the taxpayers chipped in and brought him one worth £10 million.
