Two questions for you
1. are feeling good about yourself?
2. would you like me to write a solution?

I have no idea if you did it right as I have difficulty reading your scripts... the answer is there so if you got it you must got it right.

the solution I will write anyhow as this goes into one of my papers
whole question is either 5 or 6 marks.
it looks that you went to a lot of bother there

Can read it fine, pretty sure I get what you've done. My route was a bit odd; I let (a, b, c) be a direction vector of the perpendicular between the lines and then used the dot product and the fact that they had to intersect to find relationships between (a, b, c) and then just let a = 1. Then solved for the necessary parameter needed in getting from one line to the other and used the resulting distance in the trapezium formula along with 4|AB| + |AB| getting 5root(3)/2 * (2root(6)) like you did. Sounds more long-winded than it is probably

It would be a momentous occasion if I ever did a problem the clever way

I basically found d, then did area of a trapezium. This way is nice aswell.
