Why is it that

Why is it that universities like Aston have such a good reputation among colleges and sixth form but are actually really not as good?

For example many people say Astons business school is one of the best in the country but the university does not even come close to being the best in the West-Midlands let alone the UK...

Also i find it misleading how they are handing out offers off AAB or even AAA for some courses but come results day they will be handing offers out like candy to majority with BCC or even CCC. So why is that they set such high offers and have little to show for it?

Publicising high entrance requirements makes a uni/course look elite. Lowering them on results day or for clearing, fills the course.

That makes sense however then whats stopping London Met asking for A*A*A*? Aston is only considered "elite" by bad performing schools and students from those schools... it is just a glorified version of BCU and Wolvo IMO. However i do see the logic in what you are saying.

Omygosh this is so true. A lot of sixth form colleges boast about aston having an excellent reputation, espc for 'business' but how true is this???

The only people who seem to say aston is amazing is people who live in birmingham and who are local, but outside of birmingham the university is nothing in comparison to places like the university of birmingham.

Yes they do set out high offers just to look like they are on top, but in reality theyre not as good as they think they are.
One girl got a place with a D in one of her subjects.
