I have applied for Teach Manchester and 2 other local Manchester schools. I got an acknowledgement from one this morning after I only sent my application yesterday. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone
I'm currently waiting on one reference from my voluntary primary placement but she is taking forever to get it done and I'm starting to get anxious as I want to put it through before spaces fill up. Is it worth me using another reference. I did voluntary work as a tutor for two weeks at a community centre. Do you think it is worth me using that as the secondary reference?

Primary closes on 1st December I think? So maybe ring the reference and ask them if they could hurry up?

Congrats on the interview!!

I had one a couple of weeks ago and I received a conditional offer  I also have two interviews next week!

Tips.... Stay as calm as possible, be chatty and friendly with everyone (mine was run by quite old teachers and I got talking to one about her grandkids!), if there is a group discussion, talk! Jump in there. A girl at my interview didn't say a word and the interviewers tried to kindly prompt her and she still didn't... awkward! Make sure that they can tell how passionate you are about it too... Read up on educational issues... See if there are any threads on TSR by people who have had an interview at the place that you've applied to

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes!
Just had my first interview. It was literally just that. I was the only person of 4 to turn up!

I was generally ok apart from one question where I lost my words and had to be prompted with a word as my mind went blank.

I have another this afternoon and another tomorrow morning.
Hi all  I've accepted a place for an SD course with the Coventry SCITT for primary 😊
Good luck everyone!

I have been accepted for all 3 of mine! 1 offered on the spot and also offered me a ta job to start in January as they wanted to get me in the school asap! Just need to pass my literacy skills test and I am good to go!
Hi Everyone!

Not sure if I have seen this thread before?!

I've got a place for School Direct English secondary in a school in East London for 2016. I applied for three schools and ended up getting offers from all three so really chuffed!

Good luck to those of you having interviews. Be yourself, relax and enjoy it. Sell yourself but also try and get them to sell themselves to YOU. I think they like that confidence. If you have any questions let me know!

Anyone else doing English secondary? Next steps? September 2016 seems like a long way away!

Hi all. I have had a verbal offer from North Devon Teaching Alliance school direct for primary with early years specialism for 2016. It was my only choice so I am really pleased. Interview and offer was on Tuesday but UCAS hasn't been updated yet. Is this usual?? am starting to worry it might all go wrong....!

Yes it is fine. Schools have broken up. They may need some other info from you too. If you want to accept it then email them.

Hi every one,

Is any one has an idea how much time it will take to get back a response from a school? It's almost 2weeks but I didn't receive any response from them..

Hi everyone
I have my first of 3 interviews tomorrow - for Secondary English - then 2 primary next week. They're all full day interviews including presentations, interviews, curriculum discussions and teaching lessons! Just wondered if anyone had any last minute tips? I'm actually quite excited for them now.

Hi Martyn, I'll let you know if I get a place on the English course!
Hi! I'm sure you've done enough, getting the interview is half the job done I reckon! And if you're excited even better! Just relax enjoy be positive and friendly, smile, try to get your passion across coherently. Enjoy the lessons too, will be far from perfect but they are more I treated in your manner and attitude. Try and include as many students as possible in the lesson. Good luck!!

Hi Martyn, I'll let you know if I get a place on the English course!
We have our own thread finally. Sorry but I was lingering around the main thread and most of it is university based pgce.

I'm doing my secondary computer science school direct here in Lincolnshire. I accepted one of my offers which went from an unconditional to a conditional offer because I also have to pass an interview through the University they work with for the PGCE part of the course.
Is anyone else in this boat?

Also has anybody had any problems with your offers not giving you offers citing that they do not have the resources available to assist in your training or along those lines?
Hi Gentlegiant!

I had a successful interview with my school and they told me I had to do an interview with the university too. So I think this is quite common. I wouldn't worry too much about that. I think the school generally have quite a lot of sway in that respect.

As for being told the school haven't got resources I'm afraid I haven't heard of that...touch wood!

Good luck with your uni interview!

Martyn
