Jane Eyre: The Red Room

In Jane Eyre, the red room is symbolic of many things like maturity, hell, etc. Can you think of any more? thanks!

The colour symbolism of 'red' is repeated a LOT throughout the novel, representing passion. The Red Room itself can be seen to be a manifestation of society's response to Jane's childhood passions, and reflect how impassioned and emotional she is while she's in there

My teacher said that the red room represented a womb and it symbolises Jane's rebirth.
