PGCE Applications 2016

A masters is 180 credits - normally 120 credits from modules and 60 from the dissertation.

If you were to take a normal MA part-time, you'd take 60 credits in year 1, 60 in year 2, and then do another 60 in the dissertation period.

So I imagine it's the same with the MEd - the 60 credits from the PGCE get you to the year 2 part of it.

However, I doubt those credits would count towards a different masters though - it'd probably have to be an education-related discipline. I can't see the PGCE credits counting towards a physics MSc, for example.

Hi guys, i've notified my provider and told them I have passed both skills test but my offer hasnt changed to unconditional. Is this because they are probably still waiting on health checks and DBS? Also how long do those take?

what are the best universities in the UK for pgce secondary? which ones would make you most employable by a school? (i did undergrad in durham -2.i degree)

I've sent off my application, but I'm already having second thoughts about starting this September. I really want to go teach English in China and get some more experience, as well as just go back to China generally, but at the same time I don't want to let my family down as they're expecting me to go into teaching straight away. I'm so torn.

I would say do what you want to do, especially if you have no teaching experience as you will really get a feel for what it's like and come back more confident. It can only help your application

I got offered a physics scholarship

For anyone who has already had an interview at the IOE, how did it go? Was the content of the maths and english tests quite difficult or similar to the types of questions you'd find in the professional skills tests?

I've submitted an application for Secondary Science Chemistry and just booked my numeracy test for tomorrow. Does it matter to Uni's how high you score or does it just need to be above 63%?? ... I'm in 78% so with the very last practice test i've done.
