Anyway Seychelles seems like a nice place to visit. Lots of pretty beaches

No one said it wasn't.

But the quality of life and level of opportunity it offers cannot be seriously compared with the UK...
Original post by teenhorrorstory
Lol where is the lie though??

Original post by cubic^3
But the UK is still better. In your own words, there was something worse back home. You lied. You lost.

I never lied, if you compare any two places you will find something worse about any of them. I meant it in the context of the quote in the OP.

is he being serious I'm dead :toofunny:a bunch of islands with a total population of 90,000 na I'm done

How does its size or population detract from the quality of life?

Original post by cubic^3
:toofunny:do you know how percentages and per capita works?

Yes I do. It would make sense that there is less poverty per capita than in the UK, the average Briton obviously would be richer due to their being more extremely wealthy people in the UK (population being so high).

Whereas in a country with a population of 90,000 and quite socialist politics, most earnings are around the mean.

Where is the policy to reduce this clear discrimination

:toofunny:

Not sure why you're laughing your head off. You stated 'You wouldn't emigrate from a perfectly fine country'. This is clearly referring to migration as a whole and not just in the context of the thread
This is from 2008, and I think it's only in one suburb. The one that comes up on the guardian is from 2009 and has both at exactly 69.8%. There really isn't enough difference for it to mean anything.
Original post by Blackstarr
Its understandable, in the UK people(most white brits) just rely on benefits and don't even think about bettering their lives, whereas, Africans know what they are in for when the enter the UK, education back home is a struggle.

Is it fun to be this ignorant? At least quote statistics you moron.

Are you suggesting Seychelles has better education standards than the UK? :toofunny:

I'm done for today.

Most whites do not rely on benefits, and there is the implication that all whites are lazy, ie. it's racist. If I said all blacks rely on benefits, I'd get banned.

You'd also be wrong

Did you read the article? It specifically states the stats from 2014.

Funny how you didn't say this when the other guy said the same about white people... :erm:

seychelles is a bunch of islands with a total population of 90,000...

GDP per capita of UK: $42,000; GDP per capita of Seychelles: $16,000.

UK has the 14th highest HDI (human development index - quality of life index) in the world with an HDI of 0.907, Seychelles are 64th with a HDI of 0.772.

So no, not 'comparable' (and this is without even mentioning levels of opportunity in each 'country'....).

GDP per Capita is higher in the UK but so is cost of living. Maybe it is purely anecdotal but my quality of life in the Seychelles was definitely comparable to what it is like in the UK. I lived in a house not a hut, my family drove cars not camels. Things like cable TV, video games and the internet. We have free healthcare like in the UK. We have an education system.

What factors would you say are not directly comparable?

Try and actually lay out your points please. When and where did I say Seychelles has higher education standards than the UK? If you cannot find what I was referring to in the OP, then I feel sorry for you, did you even read the OP?

Your anecdotes are inadmissible in this discussion when we have indexes designed for the sole purpose of measuring the relative quality of life of every country on earth.

The Human Development Index. Google it.

Ah yes, it was just the picture in the middle that was from 2008.

Still, 3% seems very little, truly insignificant. We should be more worried that it's allowed to become so low in both cases (and in the cases of Caribbean, which is even lower)

I am aware of it, the UK is in the 'Very High' category whereas the Seychelles is 'High'. My argument is not that it has the best the UK has to offer, but I am saying life is not bad. Just because it is not as high does not necessarily mean it is troubled.

It is no super power but quality of life is definitely comparable and I would go as far as to say you'd be better of being poor in Seychelles than you would in the UK, clearly if you were a mean earner in the UK you would be statistically better off.

No, you were arguing that Seychelles has a "comparable quality of life or level of opportunities as the UK" (the challenge I set you and you attempted), and I have just shown that this is not the case.

Your offensive ignorance make me want to punch you in the throat.

Well, i am only speaking from experience, some Africans had it hard and know how blessed they are to be in a country with free education in contrast to British born/breed whites who think they are too "cool" for school and end up bunking as well as smoking weed every now and then because they are on benefits and rely soley on that.

Do I really have to repeat this? Are you going to post statistics or carry on talking ****? Because the statistics are against you.

Well from experience it is definitely comparable, for myself I can definitely vouch that my quality of life in both nations was comparable and for my family it is definitely the case.

I'd say life in Seychelles is much more comparable to the UK than it is to any other non micro-Island nation in Africa.
