East Anglia deanery - London hospitals?

It would probably help if you were a little more specific... what jobs? Foundation programme? Academic foundation programme? Core medicine? Core surgery? ACCS? Higher specialist training...??

None of those places are in London.

Nearish is the best you can say! Overall, if you want to be in London, apply to London. If you pick East Anglia, do it in the knowledge that you could be in King's Lynn or Great Yarmouth for two years, not just Welwyn etc.

I'm not aware that the near-London jobs are particularly more competitive than anywhere else in the region - quite a lot of people choosing EA will be Cambridge/UEA grads wanting to stay in familiar hospitals, and not everyone is desperate to be close to London.

It was more the fact that I'd apply to all the London deaneries as my first 4 choices, but then was thinking that for the 5th choice I could put East Anglia. As I'm not too sure if my application would be competitive enough to get into a London deanery, so the hospitals that are near London in the East deanery (i.e. Luton, Stevenage, Welwyn etc) are an alternative.

Just wanted to get an idea of how competitive the jobs nearer to London are though if I was to get the East deanery.

Just to add (if you weren't already aware), that deanery seems to have quite a favourable competition ratio for the past couple of years. This might make it easier to get your higher ranked jobs but it doesn't account for the calibre of applicant (in terms of FPAS points). I just applied where I wanted to go without overthinking it too much. There's not much you can do at this point, apart from try to understand what the hell the SJT is about.

Once you get assigned the deanery is there then a list of all the jobs at every hospital included in the deanery? So you could be ranking a fair few jobs.
