Tight Chest and Chest Pains

This is the same anon as the heart thumping thread a while back
basically the palpitations haven't gone, in fact they have increased and are now more frequent in the day  as well as this recently my chest has been feeling really tight for long periods of time. It is hard to describe but it is like a heavy sensation and often my chest like aches idk how to describe it  sometimes i get like lancing/spiking pain as well.
basically idk what to do as these are new and i feel like i should go back to the doctors but i was told to 'destress' last time so idk what to do :frown:
thanks guys xxx

I also have occasional chest pains as well. I took a blood test so they could check my Cholesterol level, blood sugar level etc. Turns out I was perfectly healthy which made my GP confused. He then referred me to a Cardiologist to have my ECG taken. The Cardiologist looked at my ECG and told me that I have a perfectly healthy heart. She concluded that I suffer from slight strains in my intercostal muscles in my rib cage, which is normal because I was doing weights at the time. I thought I was going to die lol.

hey x
see that's the thing, last time i went to the doctors, like you they said my heart sounded fine on the stethoscope although it was going very fast. They are more than occasional tho  it is daily tbh.
do you still have them? x

Yes, I still suffer from these chest pains. They can be annoying sometimes, but at least I know that these chest pains have nothing to do with my heart so I am less worried about it. I suggest you ask your GP to refer you to a Cardiologist so that you can have your ECG taken, then they can see whether there is a problem with your heart.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I am 19 and my GP was surprised when I told him that I have chest pains, because he told me that I am his youngest patient to suffer from chest pains lol.

Hi

I've had a similar problem, Get a fast/pounding heartbeat, and chest pains, also breathless which all started about 2 years ago.

The Dr heard unusual sounds in my heart rhythm so I had a ECG at my Dr's (and have had several more since to keep checking as the chest pains are ongoing) then got sent to a specialist and had a Echo scan.
The conclusion was nothing serious, just a systoloic murmur which explains the unusual sounds and makes the fast heartbeat when my hearts struggling. Then came Asthma to explain the breathlessness. Finally Costochondritis for the Chest pains and I now get painkillers. (I can't spell it, their is good information about it here though http://patient.info/health/costochondritis )

It sounds like some of what I had is very similar to what you've got, if you want to ask any questions please do.

My whole family were confused when I told them about my chest pains because I have a very healthy lifestyle and I rarely eat junk food. I thought I was going to die by before I reach 30 lol. When I went for my blood test, everyone in the waiting rooms were at least over 70 years old and they were all staring at me with confused expressions on their faces. :ahee:

Sounds like palpitations that beta blockers might sort out if it is stress induced - go back to the doctor and tell them how this is affecting you as its not a one off.

Stress and anxiety can cause chest pain, especially if your heart is beating quickly. I would ask your GP to refer you to a cardiologist. I had this sort of thing where my heart beat quite quick and they found I had a heart murmur.

Well, I mean, it's been 3 years so I'd assume OP has had the problem seen to by now....

You're still alive then  I was having similar troubles last year, turned out to because combination of asthma and costochondritis, and anxiety exacerbating things. What was wrong with you in the end, did you find out?
Hey op!!
I have the same thing and had to go to a&e where my ecg showed how messed up my heart was

For me it was because I grew too fast and something to do with my lung tissues cracking 😂😂
I have to take regular inhalers and yeah it’s helped a lot

Hope you’re better !! Xx

Just about
Aw am sorry to hear that :frown: :hugs:
I was originally diagnosed with depression and anxiety when I started uni but that was elevated to a personality disorder which kind of encompasses those two things. I was on beta blockers for a bit but didn't find them that helpful as a palpitation would happen before I had chance to take them. Am working on being less anxious and will hopefully calm down a bit one day
