Ok - keep trying and if he's not responded at all by the time this round finishes then we'll consider it a forfeit and it'll be a straight shoot between you and joel

No, any pokemon on that list can. You just can't have pokemon from the uber tier, which is this list: http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/formats/uber/
