I'll assume this is the first time you've encountered trig.

So first you should know: Cot x = 1/tanx

Now multiply cotx with tanx....

Giving us tanx/tanx = 1
By definition, cot⁡x=1tan⁡x\cot x = \frac{1}{\tan x}. Multiply this by tan⁡x\tan x and what happens?
