How does the college check your GCSEs?

When you apply to do A-levels, and the college you're applying to wants to check your GCSE grades, how do they check it?

Do they check the government's official GCSE storage?

Or do they just rely on you to give in official proof yourself (say, on an official GCSE grade paper)?

At mine they asked us to bring in proof on enrolment day, but in practice they didn't really check them. They'll know a few weeks in whether you are good enough at the subject anyway.
There's also the potential for them to use your ULN to find your results.

Thanks, I guess that means it's hit and miss - you could get fake proof of yhour GCSEs if you wanted to do A-levels but didn't have any GCSEs, but they could still use your ULN.
