Help deciding what laptop to buy

Im looking to buy a laptop in the reigon of 200-300£ and thats around 15" in size.
My main uses of the laptop would be for internet browsing, movies and university work such essays/presentations etc.
Could anyone reccomend a good laptop that fits that critera. I dont mind going a bit higher in terms of pricing.

This Lenovo model gets my vote. It's well built from a reliable brand, and has solid specs for the price. I bought one of these for my brother for Christmas and we've been very impressed so far. It comes in a version with a standard 500GB hard drive or a version with a smaller capacity solid state drive that will vastly improve boot times and loading times.

There's no real need to spend more for the tasks you'll be doing, at most I'd spend an extra £20 over your £300 budget to get the Core i5 version, or a little more to get an i5 and SSD equipped laptop.

Thanks i will research them. Is there any reason for Lenovo? Would you recommend any HP laptop?

Lenovo are my preferred brand for Windows laptops and those particular models are all well priced for their specs :yep: HP I don't rate as highly personally, but I'm sure they have a few laptop withs a 5th gen i3 (you can tell the generation of a processor by the number code following the name, so an i3-5005U would be fifth gen), 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive for under £300.

Could i have your opinion on these in comparison to lenovo. These were the ones i was looking at. I dont mind what i get, its just that i dont know too much about laptops. If the lenovo ones are better than these, then id go with lenovo.

Don't bother with #1 or #2, Pentium or Celeron processors aren't as good as Core i3 series CPUs that you can find at this price. The third is fine if you really want a HP laptop.

Hey sorry to bug you again. I think i am going to go with the Lenovo you mentioned. But i can across this laptop and wanted to know what you thought.
ACER LAPTOP - EXTENSA 2511 - 15.6" SCREEN - INTEL CORE I3-5005U PROCESSOR - 4GB RAM - 500GB HARDRIVE - WINDOWS 10 OPERATING SYSTEM
The reason im considering this is because its being sold at my university book shop, and i have 100£ of free credit. How would you rate this to the lenovo one. Uni is selling this fir 319£ (new)

It's got the same basic spec as the £249 Lenovo I recommended originally, only from a worse brand and more expensive. For the sake of saving £30 (I'm assuming it's £319 without using the free credit) you'd be giving up £100 you could spend on other things, with no other benefits to speak of.
