C4 vectors help

Remember, these are vectors - direction matters. Look at the direction of your arrow of $AB$ and $\mathbf{a}$. Now look at how you're travelling from B to C and then from C to D. When you're going from C to D, your direction of travel is opposite that of $\mathbf{a}$, so you're moving $-3\mathbf{a}$ units to go from C to D.

b) You've just got the wrong direction of the vector a
d) You've also used the wrong sign for DC
