Congratulations! Seems like a fair amount of people got long listed.
Hi All,

Does any one knows if we apply from outside UK (Asia), then would we get Sponsorship Certificate for Visa ?

congrats everyone !!! :h::u:
2 questions
1) is there any chance they will tell us earlier than the planned date if we are successful for interview - anyone know for last year?
2) in service applicants - i dont understand this. they are competing for the same position as direct entry? So for example genomic counselling at Guys Hospital, if there is someone already working there in the team and knows the system well why would a direct entry even have a chance?! I get that they have to open the vacancy to everyone but realistically is there any chance? like logically why would they take a new person to start training them from the beginning if both candidates are both potentials?

I've been longlisted for audiology! So surprised really thought i'd properly messed up the maths test, wish i'd found this thread sooner feel better knowing some other people found the tests hard too!

Congrats to everyone longlisted at least now we know the hard work on the application wasn't wasted!

Does anyone know if our online test result go towards the shortlisting or is it just application?
So it seems like almost everyone here are longlisted. Congratulations!
But...only I think it is a bit odd?

What are you implying?
Easy
Just statistically it seems kind of impossible.
From previous years threads you can assume that a lot of people did not get in after longlisting. And this year - magically everyone are in? What does it mean?
That everyone are genius or that this year they have much less applicants?

count how many people have written here that they have been longlisted
then compare to the number of positions available then x3 ( for the number that they interview) aaand thats alot of people
I would assume that not half of the applicants have spoken up on this thread so i dont think that this is indicative of anything..

Maybe everyone didn't do great on the tests and the minimum mark had to be significantly lowered? That's the only explanation I can think of.

Of course you are right that probably only few percent of all applicants have spoken up in this thread, but still... It should be a representative group of all applicants (not necessarily, but possibly).
Just seems odd to me. That's all.

My understanding is that in service applicants are not in competition with anyone for a post. A post (totally separate to the advertised posts) has been specifically opened for them, at the hoapital they already work at. They have to pass some mythical minimum requirements so still get the fun of sitting the tests and possibly also interviews to check the STP is right for them.

Thats right, in service applicants still have to go through the same process, ie application, tests, interview but they aren't in competition with anyone for their post, it's kind of 'reserved' for them. So they just have to prove suitable and they have a place on the program. It's also a permanent job, because they already work in the department so are already employed in a permanent contract. And the in service posts aren't advertised either. I'm an in service applicant for reproductive.

I have heard that if an in service applicant doesn't pass the process, then the post is offered to the first direct entry reserve for that specialism. Not sure how true it is, but could mean a few more places open up once interviews are done and dusted!
