Oh. You could help me out in Maths if you can as I'm awful at Maths especially when I have to do the new 9-1 GCSE Maths exam.

Sure thing! You must be unlucky having to sit the new exams - we get to take the old ones. Message me anything you are stuck on and I will try to help where possible

WELCOME!
School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs in less than 100 days (eek). I also have mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread will make sure I have kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

English Language: A*
English Literature: A*
Maths: A*
Biology: A*
Chemistry: A*
Physics: A*
German: A*
History: A*
Geography: A*
ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

5 a levels?!?!?! May I ask why?

Well, I enjoy studying and the subjects are of a particular interest to me. I am definitely not just doing it to get into Uni as I know they do not count. It is purely to see if I can do it. If I can't, then I will drop some, but at least I will have tried and if I do succeed in them, then I will prove all the people (including family members) wrong who thought college was a bad idea
Reach for the starts-go get those grades.

And I have written up the first paragraph in neat of my German written coursework on a famous celebrity - can you guess who it might be?

I've got my speaking in a week, thankfully I've only got one more paragraph left to write then a whole 6 days to learn!! (I normally only leave myself a day :colondollar:) good luck with your writing!

Wish I had your dedication to studying lol, how many hours do you revise a day?

Thank you! And good luck with yours, I am always so nervous with the speaking ones because I am not very confident to begin with! How much do you find you normally write for the writing and speaking because my teacher always seems so shocked when I manage to remember what I've written?

Thanks . Normally I would do 2-3 hours on a school night and 5-6 on a weekend or holiday, though if I have tests coming up, like I do on Monday :frown: then I will work constantly through the day (as long as I have nothing on) and fit my enjoyment into my breaks so I could be working about 9-10 hours with breaks or more.

Saying it out loud makes you realise how much you actually do!

How many hours do you do?
UPDATE

I'm looking forward to today- I've got 3 friends coming round to revise and I've never done this before, so it will be good to see how it goes!

On another note, I still hope to continue my notes in the 3 sciences and start to type more up so that I can access them anywhere. I am going to work through my lists of weaknesses and make notes by hand, then type them up later tonight. I also need to do my German coursework on a famous celeb (any guesses who?) so I will work on that if I have time

I'm thinking of uploading photos of my work so others can see what I am up to - would anyone like me to this?
Good luck with the group revision! When I revise with my friends if we decide at the beginning what we're going to do, we usually do more than if we haven't.
Photos would be good and motivational! It might inspire me to knuckle down!
As for the celebrity, are they German and are they a musician?

Thanks- I will look at posting some photos later on and as for the celeb - He is English and not a musician - nice guess though

Yeah I can't stand speakings, I get so nervous even though I know I'm going to do well, my leg starts uncontrollably shaking it's awful! My CAs get longer every time, my first one (writing) was only 369 words but my current one is already over 600. God knows how I'm going to be able to fit it all into 6 minutes :s-smilie: I'm a naturally fast speaker though so I have to write more than everyone else for my speakings, but I think this ones a bit excessive :s-smilie: also I wrote over 500 words for my last writing, because otherwise I'd have been sat there doing nothing for over half an hour contemplating everything id possibly done wrong, so I had to keep myself busy

Thank you - I have never had so many compliments in my entire life since setting up this blog
UPDATE FOR DAY 3
I must admit, today hasn't gone as well as I had hoped. The revision session I had with friends was not much of a success because one of the members was adamant on just larking about, so everyone else was distracted as a result. Anyway, I've been determined to make today productive so I have spent the remainder of the afternoon looking at Physics, Biology and Chemistry - I've made notes on stopping distances and made model answers to questions so that I can understand what the questions are asking.

Over the next few days, I am really going to knuckle down so that I don't disappoint anyone during the mocks next week.

Anyways, have a great evening and I'll update you again tomorrow

UPDATE

Apologies for not updating my plan for the day earlier - I attend an engineering club so had to set off early for that.

Anyhow, here's what I plan for the rest of today:

Look at the second halves of Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Make Biology notes - I really must complete some of these today!!

Write out an English version of my celebrity information so I can translate it later

That's unlucky but I think it will make you better linguists. I am sure that if I was put on the spot I would not be achieving as well as I am - good luck for your exams, hope everything goes well

Nerves are my worst enemy but I was certainly a bit more confident for my second one, compared to the first. My last writing was 4 pages (A4) long and I think it was a bit excessive but I managed it (somehow). Do you get a sheet for 40 hint words or anything like that - do you use it?
