I'd advise you to stay in uni accommodation. It'll be a much better time.

Don't wanna pay more money

dietetics |dʌɪəˈtɛtɪks|pluralnoun [ treated as sing. ] the branch of knowledge concerned with the diet and its effects on health, especially with the practical application of a scientific understanding of nutrition.

Wait, this thing is studied on a university level? God help us all.

Yeah it is. I find it very interesting.
"God help us all", what do you mean by that??

I've also got a place for Biomedical Science and Biochemistry, but I don't know why my heart is fully towards Dietetics
Original post by Anonbabes
Why do you think it's a Mickey Mouse degree? Like did you know it contains a lot of complex Biochemistry? And at the end of the day we actually become something (Dietician).

Biomedical science and Biochemistry unfortunately often only lead to lab based jobs.

Perhaps I'm biased but dietician sounds very similar to fitness trainer, nutrition specialist, or chiropractor, all of which are Mickey Mouse degrees. Out of curiosity, what do they do? Take care of fatties and such, or is it relevant to wider population?

You're extremely biased! You don't even know what the Dieticians do. They account of the patients health, and according to that create a meal plan. The patients could have: cystic fibrosis, diabetes, IBS so on.....

Two women holding some fruit while staring into a little computer screen aren't very reassuring but I'll take your word for it. Good luck!

It's heart breaking tho. Well at least I've got Coventry, but will have to travel.

I am now debating between DIETETICS OR BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE.

Dietetics-> NHS funded, specfiic will become a dietician, I like the career, I love the course modules and find the topic interesting
BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE-> need to take a loan, the career prospects are lab based, and I don't really like practical work, I love learning about diseases.

What do you mean? Well all I know they liked my application, and only rejected me as there's not enough places. LIKE WTH they didn't even invite me to an interview

So others got interviews and you didnt. there applications must have been stronger for some reason. Grades, personal statement? Point is they liked your, but likes other peoples more. You dont have to give up and you should use all options if it was a close thing.

They only invite some people to an interview. I've rang the admissions, and he said he will re-check my application. He will take time to reply back though.

I've got a place for the same course, but at Coventry. My heart is set on Dietetics. However, I would also consider Biomedical science, but the jobs prospects isn't great
If he is re checking your application then you need to use your soft skills to show you are interested, but without being pushy. You cna write him a quick letter or send him an e-mail concisely reststaing your case and enthusiasm for the course and uni. Go on the waiting list.

Nothing to do with that I am sure. I am not taking a gap year. I believe everything happens for a reason!
