Wanting to become a college lecturer, what do I take?

In the future, I want to be a college lecturer, teaching English Literature. What university courses are best to take? Thank you in advance!

Do you mean college in terms of Further Education such as Level 3 (A-level/ Level 3 BTECs) or do you mean university (Higher Education)?

If it is the former, all you need is A-levels in English Lang/Lit or separate or one or the other. Then an undergraduate degree.
You don't necessarily have to have a teaching qualification to teach at a FE college. I think the maximum is 3 years (as long as you're working you way towards getting a teaching qualification).

If you want to work in a secondary school, you'll need to first pass your skills test, then go onto several teaching options. I will provide a link for you at the bottom.

If it is university teaching you are asking about, then usually you would need an undergraduate degree, and then a PhD to lecture in a university. Of course your degree has to be English Literature and your MA/PhD has to be within the specialism of English Literature.
