Honestly?

I generally am quite stoic, but I will be more sensitive towards them, accomodating to their needs, be "protective" of them etc. Make sure they are alright, get home safely etc etc

Be happy and bouncy around them, show an interest in what they say and in their hobbies, hint that I would like to hang out with them. I dunno really. Its hard to remember what I done to show my bf I liked him but I know it wasn't as upfront as "by the way, I like you!"
