Not sure how it works if you save them on your laptop.
If you go to google, look up the image on google images, click on the desired image and click view image, then right click that and copy image location and use that for 'insert image from URL' you should be fine. (Confusing and loads of steps, I know!)

Yeah, if you upload the image directly, it only adds a thumbnail to the post.
I always go through imgur.com, it's a fairly quick process (stick the image URL in tags)

I'm sure I could rustle up an algorithm for getting from images on your computer to full sized ones on imgur in D1 language if you'd like.
