I like the constantly changing environment where my skills can be tested to the limits one moment, and then 30 minutes later I could be sitting by the bedside of a geriatric patient (albeit, for only a short while) and discuss their care. To me, no other career would give that satisfaction of knowing you're doing good for the patients in your care. I have family in a wide-range of careers, from lawyers to an investment-banker uncle, no medics though. I felt it was the ideal career for me to hone my abiities and make a real difference.

How much free time do you get? Like if you work hard in the week, can you get most weekends 'off' (not around exam periods obviously)

How are you finding the course? Is it mainly PBL, and what is the general proportion of teaching methods used?

Actually, it's ranked one of the best.

I have many friends and friends of friends at Birmingham medical school and they absolutely hate it, I'm just using Birmingham as an example. I will admit, Keele isn't as high calliber as Oxbridge or Imperial, but it can sure pull its own weight.

Hello,

I have been to a few local GP practices where I had the opportunity to speak to patients about topics ranging from drug addiction to ashma. They're absolutely lovely people, and it's part of what makes me love the course so much.

The average week:
Monday- 1 1/2 hr PBL session, followed by 2 hours of Histology or Labs and 2 1hr lectuers.
Tuesday- Lectures, Experiential learning some weeks, labs other weeks.
Wednesday morning- usually 3 lectuers.
Thursday- usually 2 lectuers, maybe a lab, followed by 4 hours of Dissection and Clinical skills.
Friday- lectuers, closing the PBL case, wrap-up, maybe a lab.

the course is mainly lectures, and the lecturers are really good.
