When I think of some improvements I'll let you know as I've only really managed to look at the Physics cards so far!

Today has been another hectic one - a maths and biology paper!
Here's what else I've managed to do:
Made Biology notes on:

Transport in plants (phloem and xylem)

Pesticides
•
Limiting factors in photosynthesis
•
Decay and bacteria (including detritivores and saprophytes)
•
Organ donation and ethical issues

Coronary heart disease

ADH and kidney permeability
•
Made a summary sheet for Unit 1 comprehension section (it includes all the key points to remember for each type of questions they could ask)

Summary for Unit 2 where we could be asked to write a non-fiction text for two questions in different formats (i.e. leaflets, article or speech)
•
Made quick revision sheets that can be folded to conceal answers for function notation and indices (the ones with fractions and negatives)
•
Also recapped simultaneous equations with graphs
•
Surds and rationalising the denominator
•
Graphs of proportionality

How did ur maths and biology test go and my revision been going well apart from today as i just couldnt focus and concentrate on my work just hope im back to my normal self tommorow

I am assuming you have Study leave? I can't really revise for my mock exams that start next week because of School.
Wanna do revision so badly but i simply have too much homework to do everyday..urgh id rather self study!

I think they went well, although I've researched and found that the grade boundaries are quite low, so I thought the test would be more difficult than it was, making me wonder whether I have done something completely wrong.
With your revision, the break my well do you good and as long as you schedule in for days like yesterday, then there is nothing wrong with a good day off
Well, we get to go home after we've sat the exams so I get back home at about 12:30-1pm and literally do as much as I can. Obviously I have breaks and go for a walk, that sort of thing, but I probably work from 1:30 - 8:30 or 9pm so that's about 7 hours on and off
Like I said in one of my earlier posts, I really want to do well in these mocks, particularly for the Sciences and I'm going to give myself as best-a-chance at getting the marks I want

Ohh I understand you have mocks, when I did mine I guess I sort of got through quite a lot of topics in a day because I had to xD

My teacher has said once I finish the coursework he will give me the details of the paper we will be sitting so I can have a look at them (which means I can't do any revision yet

Yeah I find that if I have a deadline or something that is official i am more likely to the work because of the added pressure. I just wish I could do the same on a normal day - I'd have all my revision done once by Easter if I could

Yes, we'd never had study leave before but when they told us we could go home, I shot out of there like nobody's business! It's so much better being able to cover the topics you want to rather than at the pace or choice of a teacher. Is time planning an issue for you, or is it just pure workload?

I have the revision guide for it + I go through a past paper. The coursework is 60% and the exam is 40% so if I manage to get an A* in my coursework and an A in the exam I'll get an A/A* hopefully. I started maths revision, just curious to know what you do and good luck on your mock exam
Yes it's the first time the school has given it - they stopped it last year. we finish straight after the exams which is about 12:30-1 at lunch so I get home for around then.
I would have thought your school would have let you revise or something for your mocks, surely? Or is the content in the lessons you still have relevant to the tests?
Hi Everyone,
I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs in less than 100 days (eek). I also have mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread will make sure I have kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:
English Language: A*
English Literature: A*
Maths: A*
Biology: A*
Chemistry: A*
Physics: A*
German: A*
History: A*
Geography: A*
ICT: A*
Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.
Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.
Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.
A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.
If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload
Sounds like you know what you are doing
I really hope you get your A* and keep me updated on how you're getting on.
As for Maths, normally I do loads of past papers in the week and then when I don't want to spend as long revising, I just find a topic I dropped marks on and go over that in the revision guide and do specific topic-based questions.

Aw I'm sorry to hear about your eczema, I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble when you sit your exams. Mine doesn't seem to have a particular worst season - it's just bad all year round
As for revising - what subjects in particular and are you after tips about specific subjects or just general organisation and routines etc.Let me know and I'll be happy to help
So today I have English Language and Biology Unit 2 mocks.
Before I do the exams I will recap the layouts of texts, look at the cardiac cycle and role of muscles in the heart, and find some synonyms to improve my vocab.
After the mocks, I will be revising Of Mice and Men and Maths for the calculator paper
