Gove tells a string of fibs in his "why we should leave the EU" statement

Excellent article about Gove's statement on leaving the EU - basically Gove plays the old tabloid game of slagging off the EU with collections of random factoids, most of which are wrong.
http://infacts.org/gove-anti-eu-argument-more-fury-than-fact/

In some of them, he confuses EU policies for UK government policies and in others, he critiques things his own government have put into effect by blaming them on the EU.

It's desperate stuff.

This seems similar to Boris's article filled with his most disliked eu laws. Many of which were not laws at all. There seems to be a theme of EU suggestions and powers that have been given to governments being seen as tyrannical laws that must be followed or else.

Yes, it gets a bit much when they blame Tory policies on the EU, eg, effectively admitting that they know they are a bad thing and then keeping it a secret as to who voted for it in the first place.

That is absolutely false. Pro-EU propaganda at its best here. The article mis-reads at least half of its critique and interprets others in such (well let's be honest) a left wing manner.

Perhaps the most hilarious thing is, is that article you posted does not prove Gove wrong, whoever wrote it is just making excuses to justify the EU rules lol. It is pretty funny you trying to pass that as legitimate. Good luck seeing the same analysis on any valid news outlet.

Is Gove right about EU regulation? Yes. The EU sets out boundaries at which laws are confined to. It creates the environment where EU-favoured laws only meet regulatory analysis. So that's one of them debunked. I suggest you read over the EU documentation and treaties. It has many conditions which need to be met.

Is Gove right about sovereignty? Absolutely. I don't even have to delve too much into this one. We have a common agricultural policy by the EU, a common fishery policy by the EU, an immigration policy (within the EU) by the EU, a humans right policy ( which actually causes immigration from outside the EU to increase due to the family ties abroad having the right to live here) by the EU, a common asylum policy they are trying to phase in, a green tax policy by the EU, TTIP which is also being phased in...it goes on.

The article says that Gove was wrong about us being able to deport criminals. Well Gove is practically right. 10s of millions it takes and decades to deport people like Abu Qatada. Do you know why? EU human rights law. And guess what, as a signatory of the EU we can't pull out of the ECHR so that will overrule all our supreme courts. This is hilarious lol.

Most of the critique starts off by saying "ofcourse this is this...and this is that...but what gove needs to realise is...we need these policies...they benefit the public"

Try again

TeeEm's right… but then again… a very large majority of people in the country are of the opinion that Gove is a moronic idiot anyway so I doubt his opinion carries much weight…

I will second my statement as someone that had to do 4 different controlled assessments because he kept changing the syllabus in the middle of the year. Glad you agree :yep:, that video of him slipping wasn't long enough…
People like you claim only traitors and nutters will side with people like Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and Michael Gove for example.

Yet you people are siding with the following:
1. Tony Blair- war criminal, liar, also claimed not joining the euro would cripple our economy, how wrong he was
2. David Cameron- also a profound liar, an elitist and a man who wants to destroy the poor
3. Tax avoiding businesses- lol I bet they don't have a vested interest...NOT, e.g TTIP
4. George Osbourne- do I need to say more?
5. Jeremy Hunt- Lefties love him right?
6. Mandelson
7. Gordon Brown
8. Bankers
...

And the funny thing is yesterday only 36/100 FTSE 100 businesses supported the 'in' camp. Most were bankers funnily enough, not trading companies

Blair says there are WMDs in Iraq- liar
Blair says he is a socialist- now sitting on a 30 million a year income
Blair says he will not privatise the NHS- liar
Blair says we must join the euro- then he admitted he was wrong
Blair says we must stay in the EU- why do you suddenly support him?
:cry2:

whom can we trust if not G-dog ?

whom ?

I am undecided at present but my personal interests make me lean towards in for the time being

By the same logic then all those wanting out of the EU love themselves some George Galloway?

You haven't explained why common policies are bad but just started from the assumption that they are so.

"humans right policy ( which actually causes immigration from outside the EU to increase due to the family ties abroad having the right to live here) by the EU"

This doesn't make any sense. Please clarify? The EU is not the only (and not even the main) contributor to human rights policy/enforcement. Leaving the EU would change little in this regard.

Please clarify the "green tax policy by the EU". Why is this a bad thing?

The "grass is greener" sovereignty argument is basically a fallacy. It's not a black or white situation. No country is absolutely sovereign in today's world. The need to negotiate other trade deals upon a Brexit (be they free trade or otherwise) would also necessitate the giving up of "sovereignty" as it is being conceived here.

Either you take the Norway option (pay for single market access and have little say over the terms);

You take the Swiss option and back yourself to negotiate an absurd number of bilateral trade agreements quickly and favourably;

(Btw Norway and Switzerland are still largely bound by EU law and regulations)

Or you negotiate a free trade agreement with the EU, losing single market access and losing free movement around Europe for the more than 2 million Britons living outside of the UK (and creating a very uncertain future for EU nationals living in the UK)

Yeah the EU is not perfect, but consider the alternatives before ignorantly shouting "BREXIT!"

Don't believe the fear mongering from the vote in, who don't have one single word good to say about Britain.

Vote out.

The ECHR never overruled the Supreme Court. You just made up.

We founded and created the ECHR. So stop pretending that it is a foreign invention that has been imposed upon on us.

The ECHR will stay even if the UK left the EU.

What is "hilarious, lol" is how you can so confidently spout so much nonsense.

This is just the kind of ill-educated, ignorant and reckless view that scares the life out of me.

At least bother to do your research

The European Convention on Human Rights binds member states of the Council of Europe, not the EU

Leaving the EU would affect nothing in this respect. Maybe start reading up a bit before your big blind "VOTE OUT" leap into the dark.

I love Britain. I just don't need to be rejectionist of foreigners to prove it.
