Top tip. Revision atleast 6months before first exam to avoid cramming and stress.

It's a little too late for THAT buddy!

Yes it's the first time the school has given it - they stopped it last year. we finish straight after the exams which is about 12:30-1 at lunch so I get home for around then.

I would have thought your school would have let you revise or something for your mocks, surely? Or is the content in the lessons you still have relevant to the tests?

I wish i had your sort of schedule. In my School we have a full day each day but we revise for the exams sort of. However, we cant really go through everything so it makes it very difficult to learn the content and practice the past exam questions. My mocks start this Monday.

It's only for this week though, and normally our school day is so chaotic with other subjects piling on the work without realising we are being tested in others - it's almost as if they never talk to each other :s-smilie:

If you need any help with anything let me know and good luck in your mocks next week

I do edexcel. I dont find it hard at all, just find the exam technique so annoying and the 5 mark questions where you dont know which formula to apply:frown:

I do Edexcel too! My general rule is to try everything and see what works. I usually find one eventually...

The grade boundaries are pretty low. I think on both papers around 180 is an A*

Despite so, its so easy to loose little marks on maths papers because they ask for a certain technique or you might have missed out on an M1 despite obtaining the A1. Also, alot of the questions tend to be ambigious yet easy to do (e.g the hannah sweets and frustrum Q last y)

Oh, yes it is very easy to make little mistakes. BTW for an A* it is around 160-70 range on both papers i think. On the June 2015 Paper you needed 155 on both papers. Now i need to revise.

Have you done the June 2015 Maths Paper? I think i may get that on the mocks.

Havent you done the mocks yet, weve only got a few months left for the actual finals. The 2015 wasnt actually hard, just know key topics - vectors, how to calculate area of triangle using sine and cosine, I got the answers but idk how to input them onto here lol

I dont want the answers bud but if you have the topics that would be very appreciated. Also, my mocks start next week. We have done mocks before but i think we done the 2014 paper if i am correct.

Yes I did them on my last mock in December. I got 83/100 and 88/100 but I don't know on which papers (calc or non) and I don't have the papers either so I can't really give you any pointers

No problem dude, i will just revise everything.

If your calc and non are spread out over the week then you can leave out the stuff that can't be on a non-calc paper like you quadratic formula and some other stuff. Just thinking it will save you cramming loads in before the first test and getting muddled up

Also if it comes up on the first paper it is unlikely you will see it on the second so don't revise that again afterwards

Yeah, thanks for the advice. Well, Paper 1 is on Tuesday and Paper 2 is on Thursday so only a day gap unfortunately.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean. Hey - mine was on Tuesday and I have Paper 2 tomorrow - what a coincidence!

Good luck on them

WELCOME!
School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs in less than 100 days (eek). I also have mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread will make sure I have kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

English Language: A*
English Literature: A*
Maths: A*
Biology: A*
Chemistry: A*
Physics: A*
German: A*
History: A*
Geography: A*
ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Please may you review my English story for me?
