Architecture 2016 Entry Applications and Offers

I applied to UCL, Bath and Sheffield too. I got offers from bath and Sheffield and rejected by UCL. At first I was disappointed but after going to an open day at Bath I realised that the course is not 'maths and science' but just practical, whereas UCL is more conceptual. You can still be creative at Bath it's just they encourage thinking about how the building would actually work. But if you are really set on going to UCL it would be good to do a foundation course and reapply.

I got an offer a few hours after posting to TSR, for A*AA. Delighted as Bath will be my first choice and is my favourite! I am predicted AAA and got AAA last year - so am capable of A*AA. Have you heard back yet?

Hey guys, international applicant so need a little help here. Quite reluctant to go Bath, considering its more 'maths and science' aspect, but nevertheless its still a very prestigious school.
I do have another option tho, is to accpet my place for foundation year at central saint martins (very, very, artsy), and try again for Bartlett. I know that sounds like a silly idea, but i really had my heart set on Bartlett.
What do you guys think? I've never attended any of the open days for any school so i might as well do some visits.

You should look at the campuses cause it depends whether you want to go to a campus or live in the city. I went to the open day at Bath and fell in love, the campus is amazing and the studios are really nice. The presentation on the course went against what I thought previously as I think art is still a major part. People have drawn and painted on the walls and the projects from previous years were really good, so it really did look quite artistic but they have the balance between art and technicalities which I feel you need. Did you do IB and A levels or something? and did bath want you to score any higher?

Manchester or cardiff as a 2nd choice? both AAA. Both decent.

Yep a visit to Bath and Bartlett is much needed. I did the IB, scored 40 points, with 7 for Art HL, Chinese HL and Math SL, 6 for Business HL and English Lang lit, and 5 for physics (i was predicted a 7). I was really excited and surprised because Bath was the first one to offer me a place... conditional (i applied w predicted) but my grades now meet the requirement. Also because Bath is strict with Math and Physics, and i would say im more of an art person than science, but neverthelesss i can still do maths pretty well.

No news is good news, I am in the same scenario!

Yeah I went to Bartlett to drop my task off and the building is absolutely hideous haha I do HL physics(6) history(5) and english(6), SL German(7), Spanish(6) and math(6) and AP studio art(4/5). If I just got into Bath I would definitely go there. I went to St Martins for an interview, which was super weird everyone applying had done this thing called a Btec in architecture and all of their portfolios were purely architectural. They told me to do I foundation year and I'd be in the top the following year, but i think 6 years is long enough and I don't want to do an extra year. But if you're really into art, think about it cause everyone else applying there didn't do art or physics or anything too technical

I think you should take up the foundation at CSM. Congrats on getting onto it, it's hard to do so. If you're really that set on the Bartlett, then reapply. Ask the Bartlett for feedback on your application and task so you'll improve on it next year.

Even if you don't end up reapplying to the Bartlett and defer your entry to other universities, doing an art foundation will honestly only be the best thing for you as a young creative. I say this as am I currently doing on rn. You'll take on so many skills through doing various workshops, and your mindset as an artist, creator and designer will also grow. All of this will only be advantageous to your application and also your study as an architect. Architecture schools, especially the Bartlett, also much prefer foundation students! A year is nothing!

I'm kind of in the same situation. I got rejected from the Bartlett and I am considering reapplying next year. But like I've already mentioned, Ive already taken a year out to do an art foundation so it would be quite illogical to take another year out. Currently have offers from Brighton, Manchester and westminister. As I am from Manchester, I don't really want to stay even though the school is amazing. I would like to move to London, so westminister is my first option but I gathered that their course isn't really aspirational and not for me although their studios are amazing .,. But maybe I am just comparing it to the Bartlett which is stupid!

Applying 'there' as in?
CSM's offer was foundation year as well, which would allow me to explore artistically but i doubt i would commit myself to architecture at CSM, considering not much has been spoken bout CSM except for fashion design.

i would recommand you go to open days first, before making any decisions. i thought Bath was very science and technical biased as well, but then i went to the open day and found it actually very artsy...(not as artsy as schools like UCL etc, but definitely more artsy than i thought it would be). but thats my personal opinion tho, so better if u can check it out urself.
if u still feel like UCL is definitely ur thing than i dont see art foundation as a silly idea: it does prepare u well for the course, both the skills and the way you work, as far as you can afford paying for another year.

Bath haha, thats what they wanted me to do, but I'd be doing no math or physics which I love. I applied to UCL but Im not sure if I want to go there cause student satisfaction was really low and the building was quite ugly, but well see where did you apply?

I have recently received an email from MSA saying "Your application was amongst the very best we have received and therefore we would like to invite you to attend a Taster Afternoon on Tuesday 8th March from 12.45pm to 4pm."
I guess they sent quite a lot of these, but I was curious whether anyone had any idea what it actually is. Some sort of Open Day?
MSA is my last choice, I do not really like it, but I still take it into consideration; therefore, please PM me if you know anything.

I've decided to post two of my task submitted to Bartlett just for you guys to see what rejection looks like (jk), its http://florang.weebly.com/art-blog done within 5 and 15 minutes. Personally i really think its okay for an interview, and i feel that Bartletts reason for rejecting ('drawings not at a sufficient level' is pretty vague. I phoned them asking why, they said they cant give 1400 applicants each a reason, which i understand, but still, frustrating.
