Not sure about this line though - sounds like 'A Beautiful Mind' quote. Hopefully there's not too much hollywood in this film.

We (Mathsy people) all know the story so not really a detriment. But I suppose some people might have a problem with that.

The complaint is more to do with the general trend of trailers in recent years to show far too much of the film. But, yes, I'm not that mathsy either.

Didn't like the trailer much (it basically makes mathematicians look like a bunch of gits who keep demanding proofs as if that's unacceptable). Will watch this at some point though :smile:

Just watched it. It was good - very little about his maths though. It's difficult to explain why what he did was so amazing or the types of maths that he was working on, so not too surprised. If you've finished a maths degree, Berndt edited his notebooks, which won't be completely incomprehensible.

If you haven't seen it already, the Horizon Fermat's Last Theorem documentary is pretty good - should be online somewhere.

I've pretty much watched all the maths documentaries on YouTube including the horizon Fermat's Last Theorem one. Will take a look at those edited notebooks. Thanks for the suggestion.

They are! I certainly wouldn't buy them. There's lots of introductory articles which explain what's in them though. The books themselves are just formulae and their proofs.
Any decent documentaries on Galois that someone could link?

Not aware of any, but I'm sure there are plenty of talks/short films on him. Plenty of lectures on Galois Theory on YouTube.

Why post this in the Maths section, I am no fan of maths but I am aware of Ramanujan, it seems pretty good but so far the cinematography might not qualify it to the Theory of Everything school of Oscar Baiting.
